Payrate: $58.00 - $65.00/hr.

Summary:
The main function of a product specialist is to be the subject matter expert on a product through its development. The typical product specialist will provide technical advice to customers concerning their product

Responsibilities:
  • Curation of the News aggregation app includes issuing breaking news alerts, compiling briefings and researching deep dives on topical issues.
  • Utilize real time data to extract insights and guide editorial decision-making and content placement.
  • Identify issues relating to impartiality, undue partisanship and fake news, and filter out any content that breaches our editorial standards.
  • Guide and supervise curation by junior editors during news shifts to ensure standards are maintained.
  • Understand, and be the Client of, the editorial tone of voice for News.
  • Work with Editor-in-Chief to build and manage shift schedules to ensure seamless editorial operations across multiple time zones and countries.
  • Display a willingness for the One approach, with the ability to make valid contributions to, and work cohesively with our British editorial team.
  • Develop positive working relationships with content partners and other teams within the company, including giving/receiving feedback.
  • Out-of-hour shift work is essential in this role, as is a willingness to respond to unpredictable breaking news events. Working patterns will include early mornings, evenings and weekends.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field required. MBA or other related advanced degree preferred.
  • 8-10 years working as a journalist in US newsrooms, with hands-on News desk experience essential.
  • Prior experience driving user engagement through content curation preferred.
  • Up-to date legal and compliance knowledge of Canadian news media landscape essential, with a willingness to upskill on UK media law.

  • Strong analytical skills and well versed in the use of data to draw editorial conclusions.
  • Proven experience supervising junior editorial colleagues preferred.
  • Detail-oriented, with the ability to multi-task and prioritize multiple projects with competing deadlines.
  • Thrives in past paced business environment with the ability to adapt to change.

Pay Transparency: The typical base pay for this role across the U.S. is: $58.00 - $65.00 /hr. Final offer amounts, within the base pay set forth above, are determined by factors including your relevant skills, education and experience and the benefits package you select. Full-time employees are eligible to select from different benefits packages.
