Datacenter Technicians needed ASAP onsite in Atlanta, GA for a Contract to Hire position!

Description:
We are expanding our field service organization and actively hiring for the role of IT datacenter engineer with experience in datacenter rack and stack. We are expanding our delivery team and hiring for the role of Datacenter Technician. The position requires working at client datacenter on a full-time basis to complete technical activities that is customary for technical teams working in a corporate datacenter environment. The technician will have the technical knowledge and work ethic to be a valued team member. General responsibilities include the installation, configuration, assessment of, upgrading, troubleshooting, and maintaining enterprise class network solutions while being reliable, on-time, has a customer service orientation, and team player. Tasks may include but are not limited to:

  • Complete all activities associated with physically placing network and routing equipment identified in project specification documents including but not limited to routing, lacing, labeling, terminating and local / remote testing and turn up of Ethernet, switch board, fiber, and power cables.
  • Analyze and resolve network issues associated with equipment installations / removals.
  • Perform and assist card level troubleshooting and replacement procedures with assistance from control centers and/or back-office engineers.
  • Interpret and follow detailed method of procedures (MOPs) and engineering documents / diagrams.
  • Review project specifications to validate equipment placement, cable assignments and determine cable lengths then document results in proprietary databases.
  • Provide timely and accurate feedback to audit / survey requests.
  • Understand and follow all common and industry specific safety standards to protect personnel and assure network integrity / reliability.
  • Communicate as required with multiple departments to optimize project scheduling, resolve roadblocks, and coordinate material deliveries.
  • Use customer systems and applications to communicate with Customer as needed.
  • Adhere to customer standards to ensure work meets customer quality requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Coordinate low-voltage cable installation according to client specifics including all patching and cross-connects for both voice and data.
  • Track issues, develop, manage, and report on key metrics.
  • Resolve service requests and incidents assigned to the infrastructure support queue.
  • Provide vendor escort and support for hardware or other maintenance issues.
  • Asset management
  • Deploy and manage infrastructure management appliances/tools.
  • Power management configure and maintain PDU, complete necessary documentation, and adjust rack power distribution as needed (not including work typically performed by an electrician, including high voltage wiring)
  • Maintain cleanliness, organization, physical appearance, including cable management, of datacenters, and IDC / ICF rooms.
  • Provide Layer 1 troubleshooting as needed.
  • RMA / Warranty processing and management, including the gathering and shipping / receiving of parts.
  • Procurement assistance with providing scope of work to determine materials needed for job.
  • Assist Local IT End User support:
  • Maintenance, Swap, install and de-install IT hardware.
  • Package and ship equipment
  • Unbox and inventory equipment.
  • RMA processing support
  • Site Audit and inspections
  • Site Surveys
  • Site equipment maintenance
  • Other Limited Remote Assistance In the field, on-request, "remote hands and technical support services.

Scope of Work (these types of work are typical for this location and vary from ticket to ticket):

  • Fiber patching and labeling
  • Alarm troubleshooting
  • RMA Processing (card/chassis/optic) may include trip to location off site Equipment/Fiber
  • Installation (1RU, 2RU "pizza boxes , AC powered)

  • IP connectivity/troubleshooting
  • BIOS loading, server turn up or swap.
  • Test and turn up.

Candidate must have:

  • Basic tools including cabling tools.
  • Laptop with charger
  • Smart phone (photo capable) with charger and international dialing
  • Vehicle for driving from site to site travel will be reimbursed.

Qualifications:

  • Very strong attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills for leading meetings, interacting with others in various roles, and organizing and presenting information simply and coherently.

  • Ability to travel to sites.
