Job Details
Responsibilities:
- Lead the design of HVAC systems for commercial and industrial projects, including ductwork, piping layout, and load calculations.
- Use EnergyPro software to perform heat load analyses and ensure compliance with California Title 24 energy standards.
- Collaborate with internal CAD drafters to prepare mechanical drawings and plans for city permitting and construction.
- Conduct on-site walkthroughs to gather field data and verify existing conditions for accurate design implementation.
- Develop and review HVAC equipment specifications, ensuring proper selection and system integration.
- Interpret and apply relevant mechanical and building codes, including ASHRAE standards, to all engineering work.
- Deliver engineering support across multiple design/build projects simultaneously, ensuring efficiency and accuracy.
- Assist with additional engineering and design-related tasks as needed by project scope.
What you need for this position:
- 5+ years of experience designing HVAC systems, preferably for commercial or industrial buildings.
- Proficient in EnergyPro and familiar with preparing Title 24 compliance reports.
- Strong knowledge of various HVAC systems including VRF, chillers, split systems, packaged AC units, and ventilation.
- Solid understanding of California mechanical/building codes and ASHRAE guidelines.
- Skilled in mechanical design calculations, equipment selection, and system layout.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering is required; Professional Engineer (PE) license is highly preferred.
- Strong teamwork, communication, and field coordination skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects while maintaining high accuracy and attention to detail.
