Our client is looking for an Apache Solr Elasticsearch Administrator at New York, NY It's a Long Term Contract opportunity.

Job Title: Apache Solr Elasticsearch Administrator

Location: New York, NY (Hybrid 3 days onsite 2 days remote per week)

Duration: Long Term Contract

Job Description:

  • Install, configure, and maintain Apache Solr clusters across multiple environments.
  • Manage Solr cores, collections, schemas, and configurations to ensure optimal search performance.
  • Monitor Solr clusters for availability, scalability, indexing throughput, and query latency.
  • Perform capacity planning, backup, recovery, and disaster recovery (DR) testing for Solr infrastructure.
  • Troubleshoot issues related to indexing pipelines, query performance, replication, and cluster stability.
  • Implement security best practices, including authentication, authorization, and access control.
  • Apply patches, upgrades, and hotfixes while minimizing downtime and ensuring cluster reliability.
  • Work closely with development and operations teams to support integration of Solr with APIs, applications, and data pipelines.
  • Automate administrative tasks through scripts and monitoring tools to improve efficiency.
  • Maintain detailed documentation for Solr environments, including configuration changes, operational runbooks, and troubleshooting guides.

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Elasticsearch Administrator to manage, maintain, and optimize our Elasticsearch clusters.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in search technologies, systems administration, and monitoring tools, and will be responsible for ensuring the performance, availability, and security of Elasticsearch deployments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, configure, and manage Elasticsearch clusters and nodes.
  • Monitor Elasticsearch performance and availability using tools like Kibana, Grafana, or Prometheus.
  • Implement security policies including authentication, authorization, TLS, and audit logging.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to cluster health, node communication, and indexing.

Required Skills:

  • Strong hands-on experience with Elasticsearch (v7.x and above).
  • Experience with Kibana, Beats, and Logstash (ELK stack).
  • Proficiency in scripting languages like Bash, Python, or Shell.
  • Experience with cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
  • Knowledge of containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
