Role Overview-SAP Now! S4 Hana Migration Project
As Test Lead for the Client S/4HANA Migration, you will own endtoend testing across four critical domains Water, Power, Customer Experience, and Analytics & Reporting. You ll design and drive a robust test strategy, lead a team of functional and technical testers, and ensure our new S/4HANA solution meets business requirements, maintains data integrity, and delivers trusted insights for operational and executive decisionmaking.
Key Responsibilities
- Test Strategy & Planning
- DomainSpecific Test Strategy:Develop comprehensive test plans covering:
- Water(metering, billing, regulatory reporting)
- Power(asset management, outage management, load forecasting, FERC reporting)
- Customer Experience(selfservice portals, CRM integrations)
- Analytics & Reporting(data warehouse feeds, Tableau dashboards, operational and regulatory reports)
- Lift and Shift Migration (testing for existing and minimally-affected functionality)
- Define test objectives, entry/exit criteria, resource estimates, and milestonealigned schedules for SIT, UAT, cutover rehearsals, and reportvalidation cycles.
- Coordinate creation of realistic test data sets e.g., water usage patterns, outage scenarios, customer account hierarchies, and analytics snapshots and validate environment readiness (including datalake and reporting servers).
- Team Leadership & Collaboration
- Team Management:Mentor a crossfunctional test team (business superusers, TPU resources, Tableau specialists, thirdparty testers) with domain expertise in utilities and analytics.
- Stakeholder Alignment:Facilitate daily standups, testgovernance forums, and regular syncs with Water, Power, CXEA, and Analytics SMEs to ensure full coverage and rapid issue resolution.
- Knowledge Sharing:Provide domainfocused training sessions (e.g., S/4HANA Water processes, CRMtoBilling interfaces, Tableau report validation) to upskill testers and business participants.
- Test Execution & Defect Management
- Test Coordination:Oversee execution of test cases across all domains, track progress against plan, and escalate critical blockers.
- Defect Lifecycle:Parter with City of Tacoma in the logging, prioritization, and tracking of defects in HP ALM. Partner with functional leads, developers, and Tableau/reporting teams to ensure timely resolution especially those impacting metertocash flows, outage reporting, customer billing accuracy, and report correctness.
- Regression & Retesting:Plan and execute regression cycles after each sprint or fix, ensuring that Water, Power, CXEA, and Analytics functionalities remain stable.
- Reporting & Communication
- Maintain a test dashboard with metrics by domain (e.g., number of watermodule defects, average resolution time for outagerelated issues, UAT pass rates for customer Service Cloud, reportvalidation success rates).
- Prepare and present concise testsummary reports to TPU SAP S4 Program Manager, highlighting risks (e.g., datamigration gaps in Water Master Data or discrepancies in Power analytics), mitigation plans, and go/nogo recommendations.
- Ensure seamless handoffs and alignment between Testing, Development, Change Management, Analytics, and Cutover teams.
- Continuous Improvement & Automation
- Continuously assess test processes, capture lessons learned after each phase (including reportvalidation retrospectives), and implement best practices to improve efficiency and coverage.
- Identify highvalue regression scenarios such as billing calculations, outage notifications, and Tableau report generation and work with automation engineers to build and maintain reusable scripts (e.g., SAPeCATT, Worksoft, Python/PowerShell for Tableau validation).
- Find common scripts and test goals across functional areas and use that data to more efficiently complete the test plan.
Skills & Qualification
- Deep understanding of utilities processes specifically Water metering/billing, Power asset/outage management, customerfacing CRM scenarios, and analytics/reporting validation.
- Five-plusyears leading testing efforts on SAP migrations or implementations, with handson experience in S/4 modules relevant to utilities, CXEA, and analytics.
- Leadership:Proven track record of managing and mentoring multidisciplinary test teams in large, complex programs.
- Methodologies & Tools:Expertise in testplanning and defectmanagement tools (e.g., SAP Solution Manager, HPALM, JIRA) and solid grasp of SDLC, Agile testing practices, and Tableau report validation techniques.
- Analytical & Communication Skills:Strong problemsolving aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to translate technical issues into clear business impacts.
Education: Bachelor s degree in computer science, engineering, information systems, or related field (or equivalent experience).
