Job Description: AWS Cloud Architect Manager
Position Overview
Seeking a highly skilled and experienced AWS Cloud Architect to lead cloud architecture initiatives across multiple agencies. This is a hands-on technical role with architectural responsibilities, focused on designing, implementing, and optimizing cloud infrastructure aligned with enterprise security, performance, and cost-efficiency goals.
The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud Platform, and will provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to the State s internal cloud team.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and implementation of cloud infrastructure using AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud Platform.
- Architect solutions using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, and Ansible.
- Collaborate with security, networking, database, and application teams to ensure cross-functional integration.
- Provide architectural guidance on tagging strategies, RBAC, FinOps, and logging/monitoring configurations.
- Ensure compliance with frameworks such as NIST 800-53, CIS, FedRAMP, HIPAA, and PCI-DSS.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation including design diagrams, runbooks, and configuration standards.
- Troubleshoot and resolve cloud-related technical issues.
- Mentor and support the internal cloud team in best practices and technical development.
- Participate in weekly and monthly reporting using standardized templates.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 6 years of hands-on cloud experience across AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud Platform.
- Strong experience with AWS services including Aurora, Elastic Beanstalk, Lambda, EC2, S3, and RDS.
- Proficiency in Kubernetes, Ansible, and scripting languages (Python, Bash).
- Experience with cloud-native security tools (AWS Security Hub, Azure Security Center, Google Cloud Platform SCC).
- Familiarity with SIEM solutions and policy-as-code frameworks.
- Hands-on experience with DevOps pipelines and CI/CD tools.
- Strong understanding of cloud governance and compliance frameworks.
- Ability to architect in both development and operations environments.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certifications such as AWS Certified Security Specialty, Azure Security Engineer Associate, Google Professional Cloud Security Engineer, CISSP or CCSP.
- Prior experience working in state government cloud environments.
- Experience with multi-cloud strategy and hybrid cloud architectures.
- Familiarity with State of Missouri IT systems and enterprise architecture.
Work Environment
- Remote work only; candidate must reside and work within the United States.
- No travel required.
- Collaboration with State stakeholders across multiple agencies.
