ADI's Aerospace and Defense (ADEF) Module and Subsystem group designs RF/Microwave products ranging from 1GHz up to 70GHz for commercial, military, and space applications. Products include receivers, transmitters, low spur/phase noise synthesizers (DDS and indirect), high-power GaN amplifiers, and multifunction modules.
ADI's Aerospace and Defense business has an open position for a Mechanical Engineer who will design cutting-edge integrated modules and subsystems. You will work in a collaborative team environment and interface with electrical designers, process engineers, program managers, and production assembly through all program phases from research through design and production.

Principal job responsibilities include:
- Design innovative mechanical packaging solutions for complex multi-chip assemblies, using both chip-and-wire and SMT technologies, working in close collaboration with RF and digital engineers.
- Design detailed housing assemblies for highly-integrated, mixed- technology systems.
- Design systems which incorporate RF modules, control electronics, power systems, cabling and cooling.
- Static and transient thermal analysis from the IC gate level to rack-sized systems.
- System level structural analysis to ensure reliable operation over wide ranges of environmental conditions.
- Oversee preparation of design and fabrication documentation. Work with suppliers and our factory on product build and test.
- Prepare design review documentation packages for presentation at customer design review meetings. Participate in internal and external design reviews.
- Proposal research and preparation including cost and schedule estimates.
- Envision and develop innovative new materials, components or processes to advance design capabilities into new markets.
Qualifications:
- New graduate with a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering. Master's degree preferred.
- Previous intern experience or exposure to RF and microwave electronics or high-reliability products is a plus.
- Requires strong organizational and planning skills, technical curiosity, and desire to proactively grow in the role.
- Proficient with solid modeling and FEA analysis tools such as ANSYS.
- Ability to obtain a U.S. government security clearance required.
- U.S. citizenship or permanent residency required.
