Job Title: Senior Energy Storage Project Engineer
Location: Juno Beach, FL
Duration: 12 Months
Summary:
Lead complex engineering projects for large-scale battery energy storage, integrating power electronics and electrical design from inception through commissioning. Drive technical oversight, stakeholder coordination, and compliance with critical safety and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design major electrical/storage components, support system integration from concept to field delivery
- Identify/correct engineering drawing inconsistencies and continuously improve design efficiency
- Analyze project risks and propose innovative, standards-based solutions
- Draft technical scopes of work and specifications for contracts
- Collaborate on major equipment selection and supplier integration
- Coordinate with project managers through all life cycle phases
- Ensure compliance with UL, NFPA, NEC, IEC, and other relevant codes
- Support permitting and site design improvement efforts; propose solutions to legal challenges
- Develop project and field documentation; present progress and risk updates
- Mentor junior engineers and cross-disciplinary project teams
- Travel (25%) to oversee projects and address site-specific duties
Qualifications:
- BS in Engineering (power, electrical, or related); PE preferred
- 8+ years in engineering (3+ in solar/PV, battery, or substation preferred)
- Deep knowledge of battery storage, power conversion units, substations, DC/DC converters
- Familiarity with relevant technical/safety standards (UL9540, UL1973, NFPA 855, IEC, NEC, etc.)
- Technical documentation, communication, and project leadership capabilities
