Job Title: Senior IT Project Manager

Location: Providence, RI (Hybrid)

Duration: 12+ Months (35hr/week)

Position Overview:

The Senior IT Project Manager will play a pivotal role in overseeing the successful implementation and delivery of a high-impact ERP project. This position requires coordination across multiple vendors, project managers, subject matter experts, and internal/external stakeholders. The Project Manager will lead efforts in planning, tracking, documentation, testing, vendor management, and change implementation with a strong focus on stakeholder engagement and user experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with State and vendor project managers to align timelines and ensure coordinated delivery of project milestones.
  • Manage multiple workstreams involving diverse vendors and stakeholders across the State enterprise.
  • Develop and maintain an integrated master project schedule.
  • Proactively identify project risks, document mitigation strategies, and track resolution plans.
  • Track and monitor deliverables and timelines to ensure timely task completion by vendors and State teams.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation for system functionality, user support procedures, and workflows.
  • Ensure vendors develop high-quality documentation, including:
    • Role-based access controls
    • User account management procedures
    • Business stakeholder reporting requirements
  • Review and validate vendor deliverables for quality and completeness prior to acceptance.
  • Establish and manage core project tools and documentation, including:
    • RAID log (Risks, Assumptions, Issues, Dependencies)
    • RACI matrix (Responsible, Accountable, Consulted, Informed)
  • Produce weekly project status reports and communicate project scope changes, delays, or issues.
  • Provide regular updates on vendor performance and key deliverables to State leadership and Vendor Management teams.
  • Oversee project budget and financial processes, ensuring compliance and accuracy.
  • Facilitate and document meetings in collaboration with vendors and internal teams.
  • Lead system configuration based on business specifications.
  • Direct testing and validation efforts, including regression, performance, and user acceptance testing (UAT).
  • Ensure vendors resolve testing defects in a timely manner.
  • Support Change Management and Agency Readiness teams in training and ERP system rollout.
  • Prioritize user experience design and implementation of digital portals serving diverse user groups.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in project or program management within IT consulting, systems implementation, or similar industries.
  • Proven success in managing large-scale IT implementations involving multiple vendors and stakeholders.
  • Hands-on experience in digital portal development and constituent-facing solutions.
  • Strong leadership capabilities with experience managing cross-functional teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with senior executives and stakeholders across government agencies.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and documentation skills.
  • Proficient in using project management and collaboration tools such as JIRA, Confluence, Microsoft Teams, and SharePoint.
  • Prior experience in State or Government projects strongly preferred.
  • PMP or equivalent Project Management Certification is a plus.
