Title: Network Architect

Location: Charlotte, NC/Cincinnati, OH/ Boca Raton ,FL(Hybrid Local)

Duration: 6+ months

Job Description:

Ideal candidate will have at least 5-7 years of experience in network engineering and IT infrastructure, and at least 2 years of experience with cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure or Google Cloud Platform.

• Architect, design, build and operate complex cloud infrastructure/network solutions to support and meet Kroger s growing needs in the Cloud space.
• Gather requirements from internal customers, review application architectures, and work with all stakeholders to develop, communicate, and implement cloud network solutions for Azure and Google Cloud Platform.
• Promote and leverage the use of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) as a best-practice approach to managing and maintaining a large and complex Cloud network environment.
• Participate in and lead Root Cause Analysis sessions as necessary to bolster availability of the network and eliminate single points of failure.
• Mentor and train other Network Engineering and Network Security teams in cloud technologies, automation, and best-practices in the Cloud Network domain.
• Maintain and co-own cloud network roadmap together with Network Engineering, Network Security, and Corporate Information Security.
• Provide regular feedback to 3rd party cloud providers to help guide offerings into a desirable state for consumption by Kroger.
• Excellent working knowledge of TCP/IP networks, including cloud-specific aspects
• Practical working knowledge of load balancing concepts, global traffic management, and public/private IP routing technologies.
• Demonstrated experience of core network engineering & network security methodologies, concepts and tools, including
• Azure & Google Cloud Platform VPC & Network Security concepts and capabilities
• Firewalls & NetSec Concepts (Palo Alto, Checkpoint)
• SIEM Integration
• HTTP/HTTPS
• DNS
• Experience with core cloud network interconnect technologies, including
• Azure ExpressRoute
• Google Cloud Platform Interconnect
• Equinix Cloud Exchange Services
• BGP
• Experience with Infrastructure as code concepts (ideally Terraform) and CI/CD pipelines
• Experience with DevOps concepts and Agile software development methodologies.
• Great diagramming and documentation skills with a mindset of re-usability and supportability
• Relevant Cloud and/or Network industry certifications considered a plus

Position Summary

Provide advanced and/or cross-technology engineering through all phases of the Technology/Project Life Cycle. Accountable for the overall systems infrastructure including engineering, implementation and integration, and technical services and support. Design, implement/install, maintain and administer infrastructure systems including hardware, software and various configurations. Monitor overall performance to proactively identify potential issues and tune appropriately. Perform root cause analysis on failed components and implement corrective measures. Mentor and coach others to establish and improve processes and procedures. Demonstrate the company's core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion and safety.

Essential Job Functions

Design and implement overall infrastructure project components with infrastructure teams, ensuring that overall solution is designed to meet SLA, DR, monitoring, security and scalability needs required by the solution

Ensure that post-production operational processes/deliverables are well designed and implemented prior to the project moving into the solution support phase

Generate scripts and templates required for the automatic provisioning of resources, on prem, cloud and distributed

Discover, install and execute processes and standards for optimal use of cloud service provider offerings

Debug technical issues inside a complex stack involving virtualization, containers and microservices

Collaborate with engineering teams to enable their applications to run on Cloud infrastructure

Define and create operational procedures, processes and scripts

Ensure secure operations of infrastructure technologies (security updates, vulnerability management, role access management, configuration hardening)

Assist in the evaluation, selection, and implementation of new technologies to ensure adherence to architecture guidelines

Evaluate vendor technical and support capabilities

Provide technical leadership on enterprise work and establishing standards/guidelines

Define improvements, increased system reliability and performance

Design, implement and support multiple complex systems or applications with multiple concurrent users, ensuring control, integrity, and accessibility

Support and maintain infrastructure solutions utilizing required tools and technologies

Minimum Position Qualifications

7+ years of experience in support and/or engineering for the specific technical discipline

Excellent communication and presentation skills to effectively communicate information to customers and all levels within the organization

Proven ability to understand company business problems and identify technical solutions

Desired Previous Experience/Education

Bachelor s degree in information systems or related equivalent work experience

Certification within Infrastructure Discipline

Any experience in coordinating and working on multiple cross-functional base work initiatives and projects

Any experience in diagnosing and resolving complex hardware, software and connectivity problems

Any experience in leading enterprise base work initiatives and projects

Ability to develop enhanced production monitoring and additional capability
