Role: Python AWS Cloud Developer

Location: Remote

Overview: (Statement of Work Project - long term project)

• Type: Remote, but must be based in EST or CST (Dallas/Ft. Worth area candidates highly preferred)
• Experience: Must have 10+ years of U.S.A work experience.
• Communication: Must have great communication skills to interact with leaders and other employees.
• Hours/Time Zone: Must be able to work 8am CST 5pm CST! (CST & EST candidates only.)
• Travel: Must be available to travel 1 week to Dallas to work (could be quarterly or monthly depending on manager. (Expenses paid by client)
• Vacation: No international travel / long vacations for first 90 days.
• International Remote Work: Not approved. Not able if needing to take trip outside of U.S.A.
• Environment: Agile/Scrum/2-week sprints; Daily Video conference meetings
• Interview Process: multi-step process all via Microsoft Teams video calls.

Python AWS Cloud Developer Details:

Summary:

• The team is taking a legacy cloud-native application and modernizing it.
• They need someone who understands and can troubleshoot performance issues.
• The Java they are building isn't modern from an architectural perspective, just from a version perspective.
• Seeking:
  • someone with a foundation in core Java with recent and strong Python with AWS experience.
  • Strong ETL and Glue work experience
  • hands-on
  • Unix scripting
  • Sharp communication skills
• Kotlin which is just a variation of Java.

Skills:

• Sr. 12+ year USA.
• Can get the work done; full lifecycle development experience
• Dallas, Texas, or CST candidate preferred but will consider EST candidates
• Older Java technology; Java 7 and Java 11
• Python and Java Experience
• 4-5 years of recent Python with AWS

• Linux/Unix Scripting
• Kotlin
• Serverless Language - Lambda/ AWS
• Experience with DynamoDB (Nice to have)
• Spring
• Hibernate for Database Access
• SQL (Oracle preferred) for Database
• Git for Version Control of the code
• Build Tooling- Maven/Gradle, Jenkins, Nexus, Docker
• Fits Southwest culture and personality

AWS Cloud Required Skills:

• 10+ years of experience
• Cloud Development skills
• Tactical
• Able to write code daily
• AWS/Lambda creation experience
• ETL Building (Extract, Transform, and Load) Experience
• Glue experience
• Able to educate New-to-AWS Technologists in best practices
• Can work with unclear requirements
• Leadership skills
• System Architect aspirations is a plus

Responsibilities:

• Design and develop applications based on the objectives and business requirements in the project.
• Develop technical designs for application development by interacting with Product Owners and Architects of the systems in an agile environment.
• Develop and enhance modules in the application.
