Cloud Engineer
YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The primary responsibilities of this role, Cloud Engineer are to:
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines using modern cloud architecture principles
- Utilize AWS services including Glue, Lambda, and Step Functions to implement and optimize ETL processes
- Build and optimize workflows with Snowflake for data warehousing and analytics
- Develop and maintain Snowflake stored procedures for data transformation
- Implement efficient data models and query patterns in Snowflake
- Create and optimize serverless data processing using AWS Lambda functions
- Orchestrate complex data workflows using AWS Step Functions
- Design and implement error handling and monitoring for data pipelines
- Write clean, maintainable code with comprehensive testing
- Implement CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions or AWS CodePipeline
- Apply security best practices to protect sensitive data in transit and at rest
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and deliver effective solutions
- Troubleshoot and resolve performance issues in data pipelines
- Stay current with evolving cloud technologies and recommend improvements
WHO YOU ARE
Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or a related field
- Strong proficiency in AWS services including Glue, Lambda, and Step Functions
- Experience with Snowflake development, stored procedures, and optimization
- Advanced Python programming skills with emphasis on data processing
- Proficiency with PySpark for large-scale data processing
- Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines with infrastructure as code
- Strong SQL skills for data transformation and analysis in Snowflake
- Experience with version control using Git/GitHub
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work effectively in an agile environment
Preferred Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience developing data pipelines in cloud environments
- AWS certifications (Developer, Data Analytics, or Solutions Architect)
- Experience with Terraform
- Experience with monitoring tools (CloudWatch, Datadog)
- Background in data governance and compliance
- Familiarity with modern data stack tools like dbt and Dagster (for future initiatives)
- Experience migrating legacy data systems to cloud-native architectures
- Experience in Integrations with SAP
- Experience in Model N
- Experience with Market Access
- Familiarity with additional Azure services such as Container Apps and Power Apps
- Familiarity with data modeling and optimization techniques
- Experience with real-time data streaming (Kinesis, Kafka)
- Knowledge of container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)
