Role Overview

The OCI Data Architect will own the end-to-end cloud data architecture on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, designing scalable, secure data platforms using Medallion (Bronze/Silver/Gold) principles. The role blends strategic architecture, hands-on solution design, data governance, and technical leadership across multiple teams.

Key Responsibilities

Design and implement cloud-native data architectures on OCI covering ingestion, storage, processing, and consumption layers.
Define and implement Medallion data architecture (Bronze/Silver/Gold) across data lake, warehouse, and analytics solutions.
Lead design of data pipelines and integration patterns (batch and real-time) using OCI data services and ETL/ELT tools.
Implement and enforce data governance, security, auditing, and data quality controls across the platform.
Collaborate with data engineers, BI/analytics teams, security, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into robust data solutions.
Provide technical leadership, best practices, and guidance on cloud data architecture, performance, and cost optimization.

Required Skills & Experience

8+ years overall in data architecture/engineering with at least 3+ years on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure.
Strong experience with OCI data services such as Object Storage, Autonomous Database/ADW, Data Integration, Data Catalog, Streaming, and related components.
Hands-on experience designing and implementing Medallion-style architectures (Bronze/Silver/Gold) in data lake / lakehouse environments.
Deep expertise in data modeling, SQL, and performance tuning for large-scale analytical workloads.
Strong understanding of data governance, security (RBAC, encryption, masking), and regulatory/compliance requirements.
Proven experience leading data architecture initiatives, working with cross-functional teams, and presenting solutions to senior stakeholders.

Certifications

Mandatory: Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Architect certification (Associate or Professional level, e.g., 1Z0-1072 / 1Z0-997 or equivalent).

Nice to Have

Experience with Oracle Analytics Cloud or other BI tools for consuming curated Gold datasets.
Exposure to Audit, Balance and Control (ABC) frameworks in data platforms.
Experience in regulated industries (e.g., utilities, finance, healthcare) is a plus
