POSITION OVERVIEW: As a Graduate Engineer at LJA Transportation , you will be responsible for developing a strong career foundation, expanding your base skills into a larger repertoire of technical tools across multiple disciplines and be assigned project roles that best fit your interests, drive, and skill. The structure of our organization is designed to maximize your development through peer learning, communication & organization enhancement courses, mentor programs, and diverse discipline opportunities, resulting in advancement specific to your individual performance. When the time comes, LJA will assist you with your preparation for the PE Exam by covering the costs of a one-time prep class and pay for the annual license renewal once you have it.

A TYPICAL DAY MIGHT INCLUDE:

• Performing design calculations and preparing plans on diverse Marine projects across the state and out of state offices.
• Contribute to a variety of Marine projects including high profile projects for State and local governments, Port Authorities, Private Clients, along with supporting other LJA sectors such as Land Development, Rail, and Energy.
• Perform site visits, assist with inspections and develop technical documents and reports.
• Learning/Teaching in a peer-setting.
• Gaining key experience working directly with professional engineers.
• Developing/using advanced techniques, theory, precepts, and practices.
• Interact with clients and other consultants.
• Team lunches/breakfasts and social activities
• Attending Civil/Structural/Marine seminars and conferences
• Imagin designing complected bridge pier protection dolphin and fender systems to protect against various vessel type collisions.
• Interpret and apply codes and standards for structural design, such as ACI, AISC, ASCE, PIANC, OCIMF, NAVFAC, UFC, Sheet Piling Design, etc.

REQUIRED EDUCATION/LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor of Science Degree, Civil Engineering
• Must have TWIC or able to obtain TWIC
• Eligible to work in the US (sponsorship not available)

IDEALLY, YOU SHOULD ALSO HAVE:

• Course work with a Structural/Marine emphasis
• Experience with MicroStation
• Experience with AutoCAD
• Experience with Structural Design Software such as STAAD, Enercalc, etc.
• Experience with Marine Design Software such as (STAAD, LPile, MathCAD, Optimoor, CWALSHT)
• Previous work experience in an AEC related firm
• Passed the FE Exam
• Strong communication skills
• Team Mentality
