Job Summary

Join Comcast's Cybersecurity team as a Software Engineer and help build the tools that keep our network secure. Our team develops enterprise-scale security applications that safeguard critical data and resources across Comcast's infrastructure. You'll have the opportunity to design and engineer innovative solutions from the ground up, with successful projects potentially being open-sourced or patented in collaboration with Comcast's patent team. Your work will play a key role in strengthening Comcast's ability to protect millions of customers and maintain a secure network environment.

Core Responsibilities

  • Design and develop configuration compliance auditing tools for network devices and databases

  • Architect and implement highly scalable and reliable systems capable of handling millions of devices

  • Partner with cross-functional teams to define technical and business requirements, ensuring alignment with compliance standards

  • Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code following secure development best practices

  • Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to ensure code quality and security standards

  • Troubleshoot and debug complex issues in production and non-production environments

  • Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives

  • Document technical designs, security processes, and compliance procedures

  • Mentor and coach junior engineers on security best practices and system design

  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of development processes and security practices

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of relevant software development experience, preferably with a bachelor's degree in computer science, cybersecurity, software engineering, or a related technical field.

  • Strong experience with Ruby (or other backend languages like Python, Golang, C, or Rust)

  • Proven experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle, SQL Server)

  • Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform) and cloud-native development

  • Experience with Agile development methodologies and collaborative development environments

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail in security-focused applications

  • Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and effectively as part of a cross-functional team

  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and tools

  • Familiarity with testing frameworks and test-driven development

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with infrastructure as code tools (Terraform, Ansible)

  • Strong background in security best practices and tools (OWASP, Snyk, vulnerability scanning)

  • Familiarity with API design and development (REST, GraphQL)

  • Experience with network devices and protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTPS, DHCP, SNMP)

  • Experience with containerization and orchestration tools (Docker, Kubernetes)
