Job Description:
Apex Systems has an exciting Sr. Business Payroll Specialist opportunity with our client, one of the largest academic health systems in the Greater Philadelphia area! Ideal candidates will have experience with PeopleSoft Payroll application or similar ERP Payroll applications. Job Summary
The Senior Business Payroll Specialist serves as a subject matter expert for the PeopleSoft Payroll application. Responsibilities include analyzing business needs, determining system solutions, defining detailed requirements, and working with technical staff on customizations and troubleshooting. The role involves system maintenance, upgrades, user support, system testing, troubleshooting, and end-user training. Additionally, the analyst develops and maintains application and end-user documentation.

Financial Systems Functional Support Advise and support the selection of financial systems and coordinate system development for functional users. Plan and coordinate the implementation and upgrades of financial systems for Finance. Manage and monitor tasks assigned to designated groups or individuals. Serve as a subject matter expert for system content, functionality, processes, and procedures. Ensure problems with financial systems are researched, documented, reported, resolved, and monitored. Analytical Thinking Analyze and synthesize complex or diverse information. Collect and research data, using intuition and experience to complement data. Identify data relationships and dependencies. Design workflows and procedures. Financial Systems Application Support and Development Analyze business needs, determine system solutions, and define detailed requirements. Write functional specifications related to business requirements. Configure PeopleSoft software to meet requirements. Maintain and update cross-reference, validation, parameter, and control tables. Communication Articulate thoughts and ideas effectively both verbally and in writing. Clarify understanding by restating others opinions. Present information effectively in various settings. Listen actively and be open to feedback, providing fair and constructive feedback to others. Keep team members and customers adequately informed. Financial Systems Policy and Procedure Development Develop policies and procedures for financial systems, functional processes, and financial controls. Involve key stakeholders to ensure interdependencies with other policies/procedures are considered. Communicate new or changed policies and procedures to increase awareness and acceptance. Develop procedures to ensure system financial data accuracy. Financial Systems Documentation and Reporting Develop reports using system reporting tools and write report functional specifications. Maintain and utilize reports, extracting data efficiently for troubleshooting or user requests. Financial Systems Testing Develop test plans, scripts, and data for system functionality and procedures. Test financial system software functionality and procedures. Coordinate and monitor testing for the Finance Department. Maintain organized system testing documentation. Financial Systems Training Develop, document, and prepare user procedures, system manuals, forms, help guides, and other documentation. Update and revise documentation as needed. Develop training programs and materials for financial system users. Provide initial and ongoing training to users. Accountability Take responsibility for own actions and strive to improve performance. Measure self against standards of excellence. Participate in performance improvement efforts. Use organizational resources, systems, and services efficiently and effectively. Time Management and Planning Use time effectively to ensure accurate and efficient work completion. Prioritize activities and assignments, adjusting priorities as needed. Allocate appropriate time and resources for completing work, developing timelines and milestones. Use peak and slow time periods effectively.

Education
- Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Finance, Computer Information Sciences, or a related field (Required).
- A combination of relevant education and experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
Experience
- 5 years as a functional Business System Analyst, including planning and coordinating system implementation projects, system testing, documentation, user procedure development, and training (Required).
- 5 years with PeopleSoft Payroll or a similar Payroll application, with comprehensive knowledge of the application (Required).
- 7 years in a field related to financial systems (Required).
- 2 years in Accounting/Finance (Preferred).
- 2 years with the integration of Payroll and other HCM applications (Preferred).
