Job Overview:
We are seeking a Project Engineer III to join an established, multi-office, industry-leading consulting engineering firm. This role offers an excellent opportunity to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment, requiring the exercise of independent judgment and discretion in handling specific details and activities. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of experience in overhead and underground distribution design.
Responsibilities:
- Design, stake, and coordinate overhead and underground distribution projects to meet NESC, RUS, or other applicable standards, specifications, and codes.
- Perform peer and final reviews of distribution designs to ensure compliance with all applicable standards, specifications, and codes.
- Seal distribution line designs completed by yourself and others.
- Coordinate design and construction of distribution line projects with customers and other affected utilities.
- Assist customers in acquiring easements, encroachments, and permits as needed.
- Provide design support through preparation of draft reports, calculations, details, plans, and specifications.
- Prepare scheduling, planning, designing, permitting, and construction documents.
- Ensure that work meets all safety and quality standards, codes, and specifications, including set schedules and deadlines.
- Recognize, analyze, and resolve problems and issues at the earliest phase possible.
- Provide timely and accurate information on progress, reviews, observations, solutions, and other project-related information in an understandable format.
- Conduct field observations and prepare applicable field reports.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Civil, or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited four-year program.
- 5+ years of relevant experience, with prior professional work in a related field preferred.
- Professional Engineer (PE) License.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills (English).
- Strong project management skills with the ability to meet deliverables on time and on budget.
- Experience with Microsoft Project software is preferred.
- Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently with varying priorities and schedules throughout the project lifecycle.
- Experience interacting with both technical and non-technical individuals in a client-consultant setting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and AutoCAD (Civil 3D experience is a plus).
- Willingness and ability to travel approximately 10% of the time.
- Physically able to negotiate construction sites and work outdoors.
