Job Title: 7143 - Senior Software Engineer Data Integration & Reporting (Must reside in Sacramento to be considered)

Overview

We are seeking two experienced Senior Software Engineers to provide advanced database development and software engineering support. The role involves end-to-end participation in the software development lifecycle, from requirements gathering and design to deployment, maintenance, and knowledge transfer. Candidates must have strong expertise in complex database development, coding, and reporting to support mission-critical systems.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the design, development, configuration, testing, deployment, support, and maintenance of new and existing applications.
  • Act as a technical subject matter expert on project teams, providing recommendations and options.
  • Gather and analyze application, reporting, and database design requirements.
  • Design solutions and implement code in accordance with established coding and design standards.
  • Develop using technologies such as:
    • .NET, C#
    • Microsoft SQL Server (queries, stored procedures, tuning, optimization)
    • SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS)
    • Extract Transfer Load (ETL) jobs
    • Crystal Reports, Tableau, Microsoft Power BI, and other reporting tools
    • SharePoint
  • Perform technical analysis on software defects, support tickets, and enhancement requests.
  • Manage versioning and source control using Team Foundation Server (TFS).
  • Conduct performance analysis and tuning for databases, scripts, reports, and stored procedures.
  • Create and update system documentation, including requirements, design, implementation, and training materials.
  • Monitor and support systems across environments, resolving issues and applying patches, hot fixes, and security updates.
  • Collaborate on data integration, enrichment, and warehouse design for reporting and analytics.
  • Participate in governance, change control, and status meetings.
  • Provide knowledge transfer and training to technical staff.
  • Deliver weekly written status reports on activities and results.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 7+ years of experience in software engineering with a focus on database development.
  • Proven experience with:
    • .NET and C# development
    • Microsoft SQL Server (queries, stored procedures, tuning, optimization)
    • ETL jobs, data analysis, and integration
    • SSRS and other reporting tools
  • Strong experience in all phases of the software development lifecycle.
  • Ability to document requirements, design, implementation, deployment, and support activities.
  • Hands-on experience with source control (TFS or equivalent).
  • Ability to provide technical analysis, troubleshooting, and problem resolution.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with Crystal Reports, Tableau, or Power BI reporting.
  • Experience working with large-scale data integration and data warehouse environments.
  • Familiarity with healthcare or justice information systems.
  • Knowledge of system performance optimization and capacity planning.
  • Experience developing training documentation and delivering staff training.
