Job Title: Data Engineer with Cobol

Location: Smithfield, RI - Hybrid

Employment Type: contract

Duration: 6 + Months of contract

Must Have Skills:

• 7+ years of hands-on experience in Data Engineering, Data Warehousing, and analytics technologies
• 5+ years of experience with Informatica or any other ETL tools
• 5+ years of exp in Shell scripting
• 5+ years of experience with either Linux or AIX
• 7+ years of experience with Oracle
• Cobol: - Not coding in COBOL. However, they need to understand COBOL code and ensure it works. How to compile and how to make it run.

Preferred:

• AWS, Azure or (Airflow) is preferred
• CICD Automation Tools

Team Info:

• We are seeking to migrate the IDA platform from IBM AIX to an on-premises Linux environment. This migration will encompass the transfer of Oracle databases, as well as Cobol and Pro*C components. Our goal is to ensure a seamless transition while maintaining system integrity and performance.

Expected outcome:

• Migrate the current IDA platform on IBM AIX to Linux. This includes
• Cloning and compiling the code base ( Shell scripts, COBOL , Pro*C, Oracle stored Procedures & packages)
• Install syncsort ( from Precisely) on Linux and compile the libraries in Linux.
• Integrate syncsort libraries with Pro*C & Cobol and ensure reports run in the new environment.
• Oracle Database migration
• Informatica can load & process files
• Ensure the 20+ applications can connect to the IDA platform ( via Direct Connect JDBC, SQL server integration services, Python)
• Establish OBIEE (PSW reporting) connectivity and run one report.
• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in a technology related field (e.g., Computer Science, Engineering, etc.) required.
• 7+ years of hands-on experience in Data engineering, data warehousing and analytics technologies
• 7+ years of experience with Relational Databases (Preferably in Oracle)
• Not moving, but understand stored procedures
• Advanced experience with SQL and complex queries (should be able to debug)
• 5+ Experience with Informatica or any other ETL tools data integration and data movement design patterns (called via shell scripts)
• 5 + Experience in Shell scripting (K-Shell, Bash)
• 5 + years of experience working on Linux and AIX (proficient in at least one of these)
• Ability to understand and code in COBOL and Pro*C
• Not coding in COBOL. However, they need to understand COBOL code and ensure it works. How to compile and how to make it run.
• Solid understanding of domain-based design, data modeling and data structures
• Experience with DevOps, Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (understanding of DevOps)
• Your ability to collaborate with other technical and business minds in the organization.
• Your experience in executing projects in an Agile environment (Kanban and Scrum)

Nice to have:

• Experience with Python
• Experience with Apache Tomcat
• Experience with business intelligence and analytics tools such as OBIEE
• Experience in AWS, Azure, Airflow is preferred.
• Experience in CICD automation tools
• Good understanding of financial services.
