Job Title: Jira and Confluence Lead
Location: Remote
Duration/Term: Long-Term Contract
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly experienced Jira and Confluence Lead with 10+ years of expertise in administering Atlassian Cloud (Premium/Enterprise) and Data Center deployments. The ideal candidate will serve as a subject matter expert (SME) and lead platform governance, automation, and integrations while ensuring operational reliability, compliance, and optimization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead administration of Jira Software, Jira Service Management (JSM), and Confluence Cloud.
- Configure and manage complex Jira workflows, permissions, notifications, issue types, and field configurations.
- Oversee Confluence spaces, templates, macros, and access controls.
- Administer user and group provisioning using Atlassian Access with SSO/SCIM (Okta, Azure AD).
- Monitor and ensure performance, availability, and reliability of the Atlassian suite.
- Establish change management processes for configuration updates and plugin installations.
- Drive automation using Jira Automation, ScriptRunner, and custom plugins.
- Manage service requests, incidents, and change tickets under ITSM/DevOps frameworks.
- Coordinate with support teams (Nearshore/Offshore) to ensure operational coverage.
- Generate health checks, performance reports, and license usage audits.
- Integrate Atlassian tools with third-party systems like ServiceNow, Slack, and Microsoft Teams.
- Act as an escalation point for Jira and Confluence issues, providing mentorship to junior admins.
- Lead migration and upgrade projects, including Server-to-Cloud and Data Center-to-Cloud transitions.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
- 10+ years of experience administering Jira and Confluence in large-scale enterprise environments.
- Strong expertise in Atlassian Cloud (Premium/Enterprise) and Data Center deployments.
- Proven leadership in platform governance, compliance, and operational maturity.
- Advanced knowledge in Jira workflows, automations, permissions, and field configurations.
- Experience managing Atlassian Marketplace apps (ScriptRunner, JMWE, Insight, etc.).
- Proficiency in REST APIs, Groovy/Python scripting, and monitoring integrations.
- Expertise in Agile, ITSM, and SAFe processes.
- Familiarity with audit, compliance, and backup strategies for Atlassian environments.
- Experience with client onboarding, RFP documentation, and managed services frameworks.
