Senior Project Manager (IT Initiatives - Strategic Transformation Focus)
Location: Ottawa, ON (Hybrid - Must be flexible with occasional on-site requirements)

Overview:
We are seeking an accomplished Senior Project Manager to lead a high-impact, multi-year initiative focused on the strategic adoption of emerging technologies. This opportunity involves guiding the early-stage planning and rollout of a transformative digital capability-currently in the exploratory phase, with a focus on building the roadmap, business case, and long-term execution strategy.
The successful candidate will bring a proven track record managing complex, high-visibility IT initiatives with executive-level governance, and will play a pivotal role in shaping future capabilities across the enterprise.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage large-scale, cross-functional IT projects through their full lifecycle-from planning and initiation through execution and delivery.
  • Develop detailed project plans, schedules, budgets, and governance structures tailored to each initiative.
  • Oversee the development of strategic roadmaps and business case materials aligned with long-term organizational goals.
  • Provide leadership and coordination for Steering Committees and project governance boards, ensuring alignment with stakeholder expectations.
  • Act as a central point of communication for executive stakeholders, offering clear reporting on status, risks, and mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure proper application of change management practices and methodologies to support stakeholder adoption.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams and external vendors, managing deliverables to scope, time, and budget.
  • Support integration of ITSM/Service Catalogue considerations into overall planning and execution (knowledge of ITIL is a nice-to-have).
  • Deliver high-quality project documentation and reports, including executive dashboards and risk registers.
Qualifications & Experience:
  • Minimum 8-10 years of project management experience, including leadership of full-lifecycle enterprise initiatives.
  • Proven success managing large budgets and complex governance structures.
  • PMP certification (or equivalent experience) is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead engagements with C-suite, steering committees, and oversight boards.
  • Strong understanding of project governance frameworks and strategic planning.
  • Ability to translate business objectives into structured project execution plans.
  • Exceptional communication, facilitation, and leadership skills.
  • Experience with vendor management, contract oversight, and Statement of Work (SOW) execution.
  • Knowledge of ITIL, ITSM platforms, and service catalogue design is an asset.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Business, Computer Science, Information Systems).
Additional Notes:
  • While domain-specific experience in artificial intelligence is not mandatory, exposure to digital innovation or emerging tech initiatives will be considered a plus.
  • Preference given to candidates located in Ottawa or willing to travel to site on a recurring basis (e.g., monthly or as needed). Candidates must be realistic and transparent regarding their availability for onsite presence.
