Job Details

Piper Companies is seeking a DevOps Manager to lead our DevOps team in building the next generation of Wealth Management systems, focusing on system stability, performance, and monitoring. This role requires hands-on expertise and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced startup environment.

Responsibilities of the DevOps Manager:
  • Manage a team of DevOps engineers across all stacks.
  • Promote growth and collaboration within the team and across departments.
  • Manage highly scalable and distributed systems on cloud-based platforms.
  • Automate infrastructure-develop configuration management code for scalability, reliability, and security.
  • Identify key system metrics and ensure comprehensive monitoring of new and existing services.
  • Build resiliency mechanisms to maintain platform health and performance.
  • Oversee deployments, upgrades, and configurations in controlled production environments.
  • Lead complex, high-visibility projects requiring expertise across multiple domains.
  • Provide strategic guidance on different DevOps approaches.


Qualifications of the DevOps Manager:
  • 5+ years of managing a team. Also, AWS expertise with hands-on cloud operations.
  • Linux proficiency (RedHat, Ubuntu, etc.) for troubleshooting and management.
  • Experience operating and troubleshooting SQL databases in production environments.
  • Kubernetes, Docker, and HashiCorp products for containerized infrastructure.
  • Expertise in automation/configuration management (Terraform, Ansible, Chef, Puppet).
  • Experience with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, Artifactory, Git, etc.).
  • Project management skills with subject matter expertise and technical leadership.
  • Proficiency in APM tools (NewRelic, AppDynamics, Dynatrace) and monitoring/log analysis tools (Splunk, CloudWatch, Nagios, SysDig).
