Job Details

Leidos is seeking a highly skilled Technical Integration Engineer (TIE) to join our dynamic team. This hybrid role combines the expertise of a Systems Administrator, Software Engineer, and Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE) to design, implement, and maintain complex technical solutions that drive mission success. The Technical Integration Engineer will play a critical role in integrating systems, ensuring security compliance, and developing software solutions to support enterprise-level projects. As a Technical Integration Engineer, you will work in a collaborative, fast-paced environment, bridging the gap between system administration, software development, and cybersecurity. This position requires a versatile professional who thrives in solving multifaceted technical challenges and delivering innovative, secure, and scalable solutions.

Duties include software requirements analysis, analysis of hardware compatibility, development of software products and tools used for design, development and maintenance of infrastructure, and platforms. The candidate will also be responsible for certified network and system administration on GEOINT and SIGINT lab hardware, software, databases, and managed network systems to ensure availability and reliability of operations within lab environments (including Linux, Microsoft Office, and other lab operating systems as required). Additional responsibilities include technical planning, technical design, development and integration of external capabilities, and verification and validation.

The successful candidate will influence development of solutions that impact strategic lab goals and results. He or she will recommend and develop new technical solutions, products, and/or standards in support of lab strategy and operations. He or she will lead and manage other technical staff in implementing technical solutions that will have significant impact on lab project results/outputs. The candidate will work to convince others to accept lab's view/current practices and agree/accept new concepts, practices and approaches.

The candidate will be responsible for issue investigation and resolution and installing new software baselines at lab locations. The candidate will interface with program, lab, and site leadership regarding critical matters impacting the lab and its infrastructure, as well as project managers, systems engineers, and software developers on a regular basis, so good communications skills are a must. Candidate will be a self-starter with excellent organization and leadership skills. The ideal candidate is either a software engineer with a good systems administration and security background or a highly skilled systems engineer with knowledge of security, coding and automation.

Key Responsibilities:

Systems Administration (30%):
  • Perform software requirements analysis, analysis of hardware compatibility, development of software products and tools used for design, development and maintenance of infrastructure, and platforms
  • Manage and maintain existing lab IT infrastructure, including servers, virtual environments, and cloud-based systems (e.g., AWS, Azure).
  • Administer large lab infrastructure systems running on the Linux and Windows operating Systems
  • Design, architect, and lead team in implementation of new processes and deployment strategies
  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and network issues in hybrid on-premises and cloud environments.

Software Engineering (40%):
  • Design, develop, and integrate custom software solutions to support system interoperability and mission requirements.
  • Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code in languages such as Python, Java, C++, X-MIDAS, or PowerShell.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define requirements, architect solutions, and implement DevOps practices (e.g., CI/CD pipelines, containerization with Docker/Kubernetes).
  • Perform code-stabilization and productization and integration of lab-proven GEOINT and SIGINT capabilities

Information Systems Security Engineering (ISSE) (30%):
  • Implement and enforce security controls in accordance with industry standards (e.g., NIST 800-53, RMF, or DoD guidelines).
  • Conduct risk assessments, vulnerability scans, and remediation activities to ensure compliance with cybersecurity policies.
  • Integrate security best practices into system design and software development lifecycles (e.g., secure coding, encryption, and access controls).
  • Integration and Collaboration:
  • Lead lab infrastructure and technical management, overall lab systems management, systems engineering and project integration
  • Integrate external products and applications with custom software baselines
  • Serve as a technical liaison between systems, software, and security teams to ensure seamless integration of solutions.
  • Document system architectures, processes, and procedures to support knowledge sharing and compliance.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members.
  • Organize and direct the integration team in the application of technical knowledge and conceptualization in resolving large, complex problems

Basic Qualifications:
  • Requires a BS degree and 8+ years of prior relevant experience or a Masters with 10+ years of prior relevant experience. Additional experience can be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • with an active TS/SCI with a Poly is required.
  • In-depth understanding of technical principles, theories, concepts, best practices, and their application across range of lab programs.
  • Extensive experience using common source control frameworks (i.e. Gitlab, Bitbucket)
  • High level of expertise with Linux systems (RedHat / CentOS or equivalent)
  • Knowledge of the HTTP 1.1, HTTP 2.0, HTTPS, and WebSocket protocols
  • Advanced automated script design, coding, debugging, and maintenance skills (using bash, python, perl, etc.)
  • Experience with User Interface development, knowledge of databases and structures, and/or experience working with XHTML, HTML, XML, XSLT
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity frameworks (e.g., NIST, RMF) and security tools (e.g., Nessus, Splunk, or similar).
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills are required, as well as the ability to maintain professionalism in a diverse customer environments
  • Experience with security practices, including vulnerability management and secure software development.
  • Security+ certification

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Significant experience with cloud native technologies and security services
  • Experience in working closely with software developers to integrate, configure, and deploy commercial products
  • Experience with virtualized infrastructure environments (VMWare or equivalent)
  • Experience with Containerization (Docker) and Container Orchestration (Kubernetes)
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, or similar.
  • Knowledge of cyber security, information assurance, risk management framework, and assessment / authorization requirements
  • Detailed knowledge of cross-compilers and experience building/utilizing them on various architectures (PPC, MIPS, x86, Arm, RISC-V, etc).
  • PKI management and user authentication SIGINT processing experience
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of SIGINT, GEOINT, and analysis experience.
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation).
  • Understanding of MIDAS and Analog equipment
  • Knowledge of X-MIDAS software
