About the Role:
Client is seeking a Senior Database Administrator to support their Ariba and Fieldglass platforms. You ll join a collaborative engineering team led by a well-established manager and be responsible for managing database systems, supporting cloud-based platforms, and optimizing performance in a mission-critical environment. Experience with SAP Ariba or Fieldglass is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide on-call and remote database support across platforms and environments.
Monitor database performance, resource utilization, and capacity planning.
Collect and analyze system statistics and make recommendations to improve performance.
Perform system and database upgrades, patching, configuration, and maintenance.
Manage and validate backup/recovery processes.
Troubleshoot database, OS, or application issues and provide root cause analysis.
Support business continuity plans and failover procedures.
Document processes, configurations, and SOPs thoroughly.
10 15+ years of experience in Database Administration, Operations, and Technical Support.
Proven hands-on experience with SAP Ariba and/or Fieldglass (integration, performance tuning, or support).
Strong knowledge of SQL (query optimization, scripting, stored procedures).
Proficient with cloud platforms: AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (especially database services, backups, and migration).
Familiarity with Hadoop and Kafka architecture and data streaming.
Understanding of DevOps tools and automation (Terraform, Jenkins, Ansible, Git).
Comfortable working with Linux/Unix environments and shell scripting.
Understanding of ticketing systems, support SLAs, and ITIL practices.
Excellent written documentation and troubleshooting skills.
Nice-to-Have Skills:
Experience with database security compliance (SOC2, FedRAMP, etc.)
Knowledge of SAP HANA, PostgreSQL, or Oracle preferred.
Experience integrating ArcGIS or spatial data systems is a plus (not required).
Prior exposure to government or utility sector projects.
Work Environment:
This is a remote-first role, but you must be available to travel to Herndon, VA once per quarter (travel is reimbursed).
You'll work closely with internal product, operations, and security teams supporting enterprise-critical platforms.
Work hours are standard EST time zone, with some flexibility for support.
