Job: Document Accessibility Remediation Specialist
Location: Columbia, Sc
The Document Accessibility Remediation Specialist is responsible for assessing and remediating Word and PDF documents to ensure WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility compliance. The role involves hands-on work with document tagging, reading order, alt text, and screen-reader compatibility. The specialist will independently manage large volumes of documents, ensure full ADA compliance, validate accessibility using testing tools, and maintain accuracy and consistency across all deliverables.
Responsibilities
Assess and remediate Word and PDF documents to ensure full WCAG 2.1 AA compliance.
Review, tag, structure, and fix accessibility issues in digital documents.
Ensure documents pass accessibility validation tools and assistive technology tests.
Track and update the status of all assigned court forms.
Collaborate with multiple teams to ensure ADA compliance across all documents.
Research laws, analyze policies, and interpret accessibility regulations.
Provide training to staff on creating compliant documents.
Manage sensitive information with confidentiality and accuracy.
Required Skills
7 12 years of experience in document accessibility testing and remediation.
3+ years of experience in Microsoft Word WCAG 2.1 AA remediation (styles, headings, alt text, reading order).
3+ years of PDF WCAG 2.1 AA remediation experience (tagging, logical structure, forms, links).
3+ years with accessibility testing tools.
Strong understanding of ADA, WCAG, and WCAG2ICT standards.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
Proficiency with compliance management software and accessibility tools.
Ability to handle sensitive information professionally.
Experience training staff on accessibility best practices.
Preferred Skills
Experience working with court forms or legal documents.
Knowledge of UX compliance.
Education & Certifications
Preferred:
CPACC Certification.
IAAP ADS Certification.
Relevant education and equivalent experience accepted.
