Job Title: Mainframe Developer / Systems Analyst Onshore Lead

Job Summary:
We are looking for a seasoned Mainframe Developer / Systems Analyst with 8+ years of experience to lead onshore technical efforts for enterprise-level mainframe applications. This role requires deep expertise in COBOL, JCL, DB2, and CICS, along with strong leadership, communication, and coordination skills. The ideal candidate will serve as a technical anchor, working closely with offshore teams, business stakeholders, and IT leadership to deliver reliable, scalable, and maintainable solutions for mission-critical systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design, development, testing, and deployment of mainframe solutions using COBOL, JCL, DB2, and CICS.
- Work with business analysts and stakeholders to understand functional requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
- Perform detailed code reviews, unit testing, and performance tuning to ensure software quality and reliability.
- Provide L2/L3 production support, troubleshoot issues, and ensure timely resolution of incidents and service requests.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate mainframe applications with distributed/cloud systems.
- Act as an onshore point of contact coordinating with offshore teams for seamless project delivery.
- Document system designs, procedures, and standards to support operational continuity and team knowledge sharing.
- Participate in system upgrades, patching activities, and platform modernization initiatives.
- Drive process improvements, automation efforts, and adherence to best practices.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- 8+ years of hands-on experience in mainframe application development and support.
- Expert-level proficiency in COBOL, JCL, DB2, CICS, and VSAM.
- Experience with batch processing, online transaction processing (OLTP), and file handling.
- Familiarity with job scheduling tools such as Control-M, CA-7, or equivalent.
- Strong debugging and problem-solving skills using tools like XPEDITER, File-AID, etc.
- Solid understanding of SDLC, ITIL practices, and software documentation standards.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; capable of leading discussions with both business and technical stakeholders.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Agile methodologies, Scrum practices, and sprint planning.
- Knowledge of mainframe version control tools like Endevor, Panvalet, or Git.
- Exposure to mainframe modernization efforts or integration with cloud-based platforms.
- Domain knowledge in banking, insurance, or healthcare sectors.
- Relevant certifications in mainframe technologies, ITIL, or enterprise development frameworks.
