Job Description:
We are seeking a highly experienced and hands-on Lead Mechanical Design Engineer with a strong background in automation and machine building. This role requires a self-driven individual who can independently design complete automation systems from concept to detailed execution and actively participate in prototyping and testing in our lab environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and execute the mechanical design of automation systems, including full lifecycle design from concept to detailed drawings.
- Independently design and develop automated machines incorporating
- Stepper and servo motors
- Various sensor types
- Complex motion systems and robotic components
- Perform component specification based on design calculations and performance estimations.
- Design and integrate mechanical systems with electrical and control components.
- Contribute to the physical build, prototype, and test phases alongside engineering and lab teams.
- Ensure ergonomic and safety compliance in designs, including general robotics/machinery safety.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet project goals and food safety standards.
Requirements:
- 10+ years of experience in mechanical design of automated machinery, with 5+ years as the lead/sole/primary designer.
- Proven ability to design entire automation systems independently.
- Proficient in SolidWorks with a minimum of 5 years of experience.
- Familiarity with automation safety standards (ANSI/ISO) and food industry regulations (FDA/NSF) is a plus.
- Hands-on experience in machine prototyping and testing.
- Experience in automated sorting or pick & place systems is a strong plus.
- Prior experience in the food equipment or food processing equipment industry is advantageous.
