The Auto Liability Claims Adjuster is responsible for investigating and resolving auto accident claims involving third-party property damage. Essential Responsibilities:
- Review initial accident/incident details, including parties involved and damages.
- Verify applicable insurance policy coverage and coverage codes.
- Conduct investigations to confirm accident facts (e.g., police reports, witness and claimant interviews).
- Identify potential fraud indicators and escalate for SIU assignment if warranted.
- Determine need for field investigation by Independent Adjusters
- Assess liability based on available information and investigative findings
- Establish and adjust reserves appropriately throughout the claim lifecycle.
- Determine appropriate claim resolution, including negotiation and settlement.
- Obtain and document required settlement or authority from management.
- Coordinate with appraisers, repair facilities, tow companies, storage yards, rental companies, and other vendors.
- Approve rental vehicles and manage associated costs and rental periods.
- Confirm damages, repair or replacement costs, and related expenses.
- Maintain multi-state adjusting licenses and complete continuing education (CE) requirements.
- Stay updated on industry developments, legal changes, and best practices.
- Respond timely to arbitration filings and other legal or regulatory documents.
- High School Diploma or GED
- Two years of experience in property damage claims, safety, compliance, transportation services, or a combination thereof.
- Current Florida adjuster license or acquired license within 90 days of hire.
- Associate's degree in related field
- Working knowledge of Windows, Word, Excel and PDF document formats
- Familiarity with electronic claims processing systems; ability to process claims in a timely manner.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Sound independent negotiation, mediation, and conflict resolution skills within approval limits.
- Possess a general understanding of tort law, various rules of negligence, measure of damages, releases, statutory & general claims handling practices.
- An understanding of electronic discovery and preservation of evidence
- A general understanding of auto liability, general liability, physical damage insurance coverage
