About the Role:

Our Output Solutions team is searching for a COBOL Software Engineer who can apply legacy programming skills and modern development experience to enhance critical batch processes. This unique opportunity blends time-tested COBOL systems with innovative technologies to drive system reliability, scalability, and efficiency.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and fix existing COBOL applications and batch processes
  • Develop creative solutions using .NET technologies to modernize legacy systems
  • Monitor and manage environments to ensure system stability and uptime
  • Rapidly identify production issues and implement effective resolutions
  • Design automation tools to improve operational workflows
  • Propose and report process improvements to boost performance
  • Document monitoring and escalation procedures for support consistency
  • Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation to provide critical system support

What We're Looking For:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related discipline
  • 2–4 years of experience in COBOL programming and .NET development
  • 1–2 years of experience in VB, C#.NET, .NET Core
  • 1–2 years of experience in XML, MVC, Web Development, API/Web Services/Microservices
  • 1–2 years of experience in SQL database development
  • 1+ years of experience with scripting languages such as DOS (BAT), Python, or JavaScript
  • Willingness to work fully onsite in either Omaha, NE or Berkeley Heights, NJ

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience in the financial services industry
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools such as CI/CD, Jenkins, Ansible
  • Version control using Git, Bitbucket, or similar tools
  • Knowledge of print file formats (PostScript, PDF, AFP)
  • Exposure to composition software (ISIS Papyrus, Quadient Inspire, HP Extreme)
  • Prior work in Agile development environments
