Systems Engineer
Job Details
This Systems Engineer role focuses on installing, configuring, maintaining, and supporting a wide range of IT infrastructure systems and hardware. The position is critical for ensuring high availability, performance, and security of the firm's IT systems, including incident response and disaster recovery planning.
***Hybrid scheduled 2 days a week onsite in White Plains, NY OR Jersey City, NJ**
Responsibilities
Infrastructure Operations:
- Install and configure servers, storage devices, network, and telecommunications equipment.
- Install and configure server OS, databases, file and email servers, authentication systems, firewalls, and backup systems.
- Perform routine upgrades and maintenance of IT hardware and software.
System Monitoring & Incident Management:
- Monitor system performance and produce reports on metrics such as storage capacity, resource utilization, uptime, backup performance, and incidents.
- Manage and coordinate incident response, including major outages and disaster recovery testing.
Collaboration & Support:
- Work closely with system architects and other infrastructure teams to execute system designs and coordinate maintenance.
- Provide escalation support and serve as a technical resource for infrastructure-related issues.
- Partner with application, database, cybersecurity, and development teams to align infrastructure with business needs.
Policy & Security:
- Configure domain and security policies, access lists, and firewall rules.
- Support the implementation of data security, backup, and retention policies.
- Ensure compliance with relevant IT regulations and standards.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience in infrastructure or end-user support roles.
- Strong understanding of IT infrastructure including:
- Microsoft Active Directory
- Windows Server/Desktop OS
- Group Policy and file/folder security
- Microsoft SCCM
- Virtualization (VMware vSphere, Citrix XenDesktop)
- Enterprise backup and storage systems (Commvault, Rubrik, Pure)
- Core networking protocols (DNS, DHCP)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proven ability to manage priorities in high-pressure environments (e.g., trading floor support).
- Strong project management and documentation capabilities.

- Advanced network troubleshooting (e.g., Wireshark)
- Familiarity with:
- Microsoft Office Suite, SharePoint, Teams

- Performance monitoring tools
