Position Overview:
We are currently seeking an experienced and highly analytical KDB Developer to join the data services team of a major global hedge fund in New York City. This role is integral to the development and maintenance of high-performance time-series data solutions, supporting critical business functions across trading, analytics, and risk management. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in kdb+/q and demonstrate a strong understanding of financial markets and data architecture.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and optimize scalable kdb+/q applications for processing and analyzing large volumes of time-series data.
- Collaborate with stakeholders across trading, quantitative research, and technology to gather requirements and deliver tailored data solutions.
- Enhance existing systems to improve performance, reliability, and maintainability.
- Implement real-time and historical data analytics tools to support decision-making processes.
- Ensure robust documentation and adherence to best practices in software development and data governance.
- Provide ongoing support for production systems, including troubleshooting and performance tuning.
Required Qualifications:
- Demonstrated proficiency in kdb+/q with hands-on experience in a production environment.
- Strong understanding of time-series data structures and real-time data processing.
- Familiarity with Linux/Unix systems and scripting languages such as Python or Shell.
- Prior experience in financial services, particularly within trading, market data, or quantitative research domains.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Exposure to cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud Platform, Azure).
- Experience with streaming technologies such as Kafka or Redis.
- Knowledge of additional programming languages (e.g., Java, C++).
- Bachelor s or Master s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related discipline.
