RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has an enterprise client that is seeking a Systems Engineer V in Redmond, WA.
Summary:
We are seeking a senior-level Industrial Engineer with expertise in lab layout, hardware development workflows, and facility design. This contractor will help lead facility and lab planning efforts in collaboration with our Facilities & Equipment Manager, design teams, and program managers. The ideal candidate is comfortable building layouts from scratch, interfacing across multiple stakeholders, and navigating ambiguity in a fast-paced development environment.
Key Responsibilities:
* Systems Engineer V will develop high-level site plans and conceptual building layouts for hardware development labs and support spaces
* Collaborate with design teams to gather requirements for lab functionality, equipment, team adjacencies, and shared services
* Support detailed lab layout planning, including bench/equipment location, power and utility routing, and safety considerations
* Partner with a program manager to sequence and coordinate team moves across buildings or campuses
* Interpret building drawings, apply knowledge of industrial code, and ensure layouts meet relevant facility and safety standards
* As a Systems Engineer V, you will recommend improvements for workflow, storage, and space utilization tailored to flexible development environments (not high-rate production)
* Produce 2D layout drawings (AutoCAD) and integrate updates based on stakeholder input and program timelines
* Work cross-functionally with Facilities, EHS, IT, Security, and Development Operations teams to enable coordinated execution
REQUIREMENTS:
* Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
* 5+ years of experience in industrial/facility layout planning, lab design, or manufacturing environments
* Proficiency in AutoCAD and ability to interpret architectural and MEP drawings
* Strong understanding of building infrastructure, lab requirements, and industrial codes
* Demonstrated success planning complex facility moves or reconfigurations with multiple stakeholders
Preferred:
* Experience in hardware development environments, including electromechanical systems and lab workflows
* Familiarity with lean development principles and flexible workcell design
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
* Ability to thrive in a high-ambiguity, fast-paced environment where priorities evolve rapidly
The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.
We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
