We re looking for a Lead Backend Engineer to drive backend development, optimize data infrastructure, and support critical integrations across our ecosystem. You ll play a pivotal role in modernizing our backend architecture to ensure scalability, reliability, and efficiency, while leading transformative initiatives such as:

• Enhancing CRM and subscription management systems to improve customer engagement and retention.
• Scaling and optimizing high-volume transactional data systems that power our business.
• Adopting a Customer Data Platform (CDP) to unify and leverage customer insights.
• Integrating global data solutions to enable better analytics and decision-making.
• Implementing a new analytics front end to provide actionable business intelligence.

This is a hands-on leadership role where you ll balance technical development with strategic architecture decisions, collaborating with cross-functional teams to align technology with business goals. Key Responsibilities

Backend Development & Architecture

• Architect and maintain scalable, high-performance backend systems using Python, PostgreSQL, and AWS infrastructure.
• Develop and optimize data pipelines, CDP integrations, and analytics implementations to enhance data tracking, personalization, and insights.
• Ensure security, reliability, and efficiency in high-volume transactional systems that support subscriptions and customer interactions.
• Build and enhance API integrations and backend services to improve system interoperability and real-time data access.

Technical Leadership & Modernization

• Define best practices for data management, system architecture, and analytics integration to drive scalability and performance.
• Lead backend modernization efforts, ensuring our technology stack supports future growth and innovation.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, data, and product teams to align backend capabilities with business objectives.

Team Growth & Future Leadership Potential

• Work closely with backend and frontend engineers, contributing to the technical vision and roadmap for future growth.
• Mentor junior engineers and foster a culture of collaboration, learning, and technical excellence.

What We re Looking For

• 5+ years of experience in backend engineering, including leadership responsibilities, with a strong track record of designing and scaling data-driven systems.
• Deep expertise in Python, PostgreSQL, and AWS, with experience optimizing backend performance, security, and reliability.
• Proven ability to work with high-volume transactional data systems, ensuring efficiency, scalability, and resilience.
• Experience integrating Customer Data Platforms (CDPs) and global data solutions, designing robust analytics pipelines.
• Strong balance of hands-on development and strategic technical leadership, with a track record of making architecture decisions that drive business impact.
• Experience applying AI and machine learning techniques to backend development, including data processing, automation, and predictive modeling to improve efficiency and insights.
• Background in subscription-based businesses, with an understanding of recurring revenue models, customer lifecycle management, and data-driven retention strategies.
• Bonus: Experience leading small engineering teams or mentoring developers, fostering a collaborative and high-performing culture.
