Our direct client is looking for a Senior Financial Accountant for a Hybrid long term contract in Washington, DC.
Note: Hybrid role--only submit local candidates
J0B DESCRIPTION:
- Assist District staff in carrying out the overall financial plans.
- Manage the close process by ensuring accounting events are properly recorded in accordance with GAAP and that all entries are reviewed and accurate prior to release by the Accounting Manager in accordance with District Policy.
- Assist with the annual financial audit and other audits by reviewing, providing and/or producing schedules and reconciliations deemed necessary to secure a clean opinion.
- Prepare and update policies and procedures for accounting processes; evaluate and improve the effectiveness of internal accounting controls; identify areas of risk; ensure compliance with policies and procedures and accounting standards.
SKILL MATRIX:
- Financial and accounting work experience. - Required
- Expert knowledge of accounting in the areas of Cash, Accounts Receivable. - Required
- Working knowledge in the areas of Grants, Bonds, Retirement Plans and Unclaimed Property. - Required
- Expert knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). - Required
- Demonstrated experience in the use of project management skills. - Required
- Advanced proficiency in MS Teams, MS Outlook, MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). - Required
- Proficiency with Accounting/General Ledger Systems. - Required
- Bachelor s Degree in Business Administration, Accounting or Finance - Required
- CPA or MBA preferred, but not required based on work experience. - Strong plus to have
