Job Details

Senior Java/J2EE Developer

Location: McLean, VA (100% onsite) Candidates MUST be within the DC/VA market client not open to relocating candidates

6 months contract

Required Skills & Experience

  • 5+ years of core Java development (the team is currently on Java 8, moving to Java 11)
  • Effective communicator, especially with senior leadership
  • Knowledge of AWS Cloud (hands-on experience highly preferred)
  • Comfortable working in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and support cloud-based analytics and risk management tools
  • Serve as primary technical contact for leadership on analytics platforms
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet business goals
  • Maintain and improve production systems
  • Review and enhance existing code in alignment with best practices

Qualifications

  • Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Financial Engineering, or similar field
  • Minimum 2 years engaging with leadership-level stakeholders on technical concepts
  • Minimum 5 years hands-on experience in software development and DevOps
  • Proficiency in:
    • Java 8+, SpringBoot, RESTful APIs
    • AWS, Grid Computing
    • Python, JSON, XML (bonus)
    • UNIX/Linux, Shell Scripting, Docker, Jenkins, Git

Additional Desirables:

  • Financial domain knowledge: mortgage, fixed income, or trading analytics
  • Backend development in Linux-based environments
