C Spire is looking for a new contractor to fill the Optical Design role (formerly the Fiber Design tech)

Job Description: Optical Design Technician

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive individual to join our team in a support role focused on Optical Design and documentation.

This position is ideal for someone who is eager to learn, follows procedures carefully, with a foundational understanding of design principles, excellent communication abilities, and a sharp analytical mindset.

Key Responsibilities:

• Follow structured training and documentation with precision and consistency
• Use Microsoft Excel for basic data entry, tracking, and organization
• Collaborate with team members to ensure design accuracy and compliance
• Support design troubleshooting by applying critical thinking and asking insightful questions
• Demonstrate critical thinking when encountering design challenges
• Adapt quickly to changing priorities and high-pressure situations
• Utilize computer systems and software tools to manage telecom operations and reporting

Qualifications:

Basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., spreadsheets, formatting)

Foundational understanding of OSP construction drawings and terminology

Strong ability to retain and apply training materials

Willingness to learn, take initiative, and seek clarification when needed

Reliable, detail-focused, and committed to continuous improvement

Strong attention to detail and ability to retain and apply training material

Critical thinking skills with a willingness to ask questions and seek clarity

• Ability to follow instructions and adhere to documented procedures
