Position Overview

As a Systems Engineer Cloud, Network, IT & Collaborative Systems at usCalibration Incorporated, you will have a direct hand in shaping our strategic technological landscape encompassing the configuration of hardware, software, network systems, phone systems, Microsoft 365, and cloud IT infrastructure (Azure, AWS) to support smooth operation of day-to-day operations, in-house developed software, and Data Analytics. Beyond routine IT administration of managing hardware, setting up networks, and administering software licenses, you will be collaborating with executives to define optimal intranet structures, robust security strategies, and effective communication systems that meet evolving business needs.

You will also work closely with key stakeholders to establish and continuously refine IT governance, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and best practices. Working alongside experienced mentors, you will match the company s evolving needs with current and future technologies, creating a secure, seamless, and user-focused environment across all platforms and applications. By proactively identifying opportunities for greater efficiency and staying ahead of emerging innovations, you will guide strategic decisions that shape the organization s technological direction ensuring every choice supports the broader vision and meets user needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Take ownership of the full IT infrastructure, as you mature in your role, including continuously assure optimal configuration of hardware, software, network systems, phone system, Microsoft 365 (SharePoint, Exchange Online, MS Teams), Entra ID, Intune, mobile device management (MDM), and cloud IT infrastructure (Azure, AWS) for day-to-day operations, in-house developed software, and Data Analytics.
  • Manage relationships with hardware and software vendors, overseeing the procurement process and monitoring the implementation of IT assets, services, and products from start to finish. Taking vendor lock-in into consideration and mitigating as warranted.
  • Manage software licensing and ensure compliance with all vendor agreements, including collaborating with a network vendor to maintain and support network infrastructure.
  • Manage a simple IT budget.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to create governance and standardization of requirements regarding digital workspaces (SharePoint, MS Teams, and other systems such as DevOps, Planner, Project, etc.) and a system for enforcing those standards.
  • Deploy and manage cloud-based solutions to support all departments, including Software, Data Analytics, Operations, and more.
  • Create and continuously assure optimal IT environments for Data Analytics, in-house developed software systems, and off-site field operations, addressing the growing needs of these critical areas.
  • Design, configure, and troubleshoot advanced network setups, including routers, switches, wireless access points, and firewalls.
  • Provide remote and on-site technical support across all systems for all employees, on and off-site, to resolve complex issues quickly and efficiently.
  • Monitor and maintain the cybersecurity of all systems, including cloud platforms, offline systems, and remote environments, ensuring compliance with internal and external standards.
  • Optimize system performance, reliability, and scalability to meet the growing needs of the business.
  • Monitor and manage backup and disaster recovery solutions, ensuring data integrity and availability
  • Manage mobile device management platform, including provisioning and creation of mobile device policies.
  • Research and implement new technologies that align with business objectives and improve operational efficiency.
  • Develop and maintain thorough documentation for systems, procedures, and troubleshooting protocols.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide IT solutions that drive innovation and enhance productivity.
  • Lead projects related to system upgrades, migrations, and new technology implementations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Management Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field or equivalent work experience.
  • Technical proficiency with Microsoft technologies (Windows Server, Office 365, SharePoint, MS Teams, Active Directory, etc.) and knowledge of IT systems architecture.
  • Ability to design, implement, and troubleshoot complex network infrastructure (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, etc.).
  • Knowledge of hardware configuration, management, and troubleshooting.
  • Understanding of IT security practices, including data encryption, firewalls, and patch management.
  • Ability to work independently and demonstrate leadership, ownership, and accountability in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills with a passion for innovation and finding creative solutions to technical challenges.
  • Strong communication skills to work effectively with both technical teams and non-technical staff.
  • A demonstrated track record of going beyond just fixing problems and proactively improving systems and processes.

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience with advanced IT solutions such as virtualization (VMware, Hyper-V), cloud platforms (Azure, AWS), or automation tools.
  • Familiarity with ITIL practices, project management, and documentation standards.
  • Previous experience working in a high-growth or fast-paced business environment.
  • Additional certification a plus - Microsoft Certified: Azure, Microsoft 365 Certified, AWS Certified, CompuTIA Security+.
