Your impact

Jacobs is seeking an Electrical (Traction) Engineering Intern) to join our Transportation team in Boston, MA working on projects that bring innovative solutions to our clients' challenges locally and worldwide.

This is an exciting opportunity for you to join our team and be involved in a variety of engineering tasks for our Rail and Transit clients, including transit and rail traction power projects.

You'll support the group on area projects and provide assistance for technical design for project aspects such as traction power substation and distribution design, along with detailed engineering designs, and preparation of transit/rail contracts for construction. You'll work alongside a team of technicians and engineers, using standard electrical engineering practices for designs. You'll participate in power system studies for AC and DC electrified railway systems, computer simulations and studies including AC and DC systems, and site investigations in substations and along railroad tracks. You'll provide assistance in reviewing contractor shop drawing and testing submittals, preparing technical proposals, and actively participate in Quality Control of design for completeness and accuracy - you'll ensure we're doing better together!

This position demands a results-driven, client-focused professional with excellent written and verbal communication skills, a collaborative mindset, and a strong work ethic . You'll take ownership of the completeness, accuracy and timeliness of the work assigned to you by demonstrating the ability to progress from basic design work assignments to more complicated and involved projects working in conjunction with a technical team. Your ability to manage your time and responsibilities effectively while maintaining a high standard work product will be instrumental in delivering successful project outcomes.

Here's what you'll need

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Standard Computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • AutoCAD proficiency

Ideally, You'll Also Have:
  • Experience in Electrical design
  • Experience in MicroStation, Revit
  • Experience in electrified railway (3rd rail or Overhead Contact System) substation and power distribution systems design
  • Authorization to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship, now or in the future

Posted Salary Range: Minimum

45,000.00

Posted Salary Range: Upper

65,000.00

The base salary range for this position is $45,000.00 to $65,000.00; though will be paid hourly based on hours worked. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
