RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce's client, a Detroit, MI-based automotive manufacturer who brings engineering, technology, and design together to create innovative vehicles, energy solutions, and in-vehicle services is seeking a Controls Engineer.
As a Lead Controls Engineer, you will be responsible for the development and implementation of advanced automation systems:
* Collaborative Robots (Fanuc CRX Series)
* Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs)
* 3D Vision Systems
You will lead project-based work from concept through deployment, including programming, installation, and safety buy-off. This role also involves:
* Troubleshooting and resolving equipment/process issues
* Supporting daily production with a focus on safety, quality, and uptime
* Supervising skilled trades when needed
* Ensuring compliance with company safety and controls standards
* Developing SOPs and managing technical documentation
* Collaborating with engineers and maintenance teams for knowledge transfer
REQUIREMENTS:
* 3+ years of experience in controls engineering or automation
* Strong hands-on experience with PLC programming and troubleshooting (Rockwell, Siemens)
* Expertise in robotics integration, especially Fanuc CRX
* Experience with vision systems and collaborative robot applications
* Manufacturing experience (automotive preferred)
* Excellent communication skills and the ability to simplify complex technical issues
The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.
We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
