Our client has over 20 years of expertise in the niche real estate and private equity market. They are partnering with Medix to hire a Senior Cloud Data Engineer to lead Analytics Development from their Chicago headquarters.

This role will be a senior hands-on Data Engineer and a mentor to a growing team of Data Engineers. Please note that this job is on-site 3 days / week in the Downtown Chicago Loop area - accessible by public transit, and a short <5 minute walk from both Chicago Union Station and Ogilvie Transportation Center - If you're going to be on-site, then this is a great location for anyone who lives near the CTA or Metra Commuter lines!

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Serving as a Senior Data Engineer - both in technology, and as a mentor to junior team members.


• Working in a business-facing role for requirements discovery, analysis and capture. This role will be working with Directors and Executives from across the business to custom tailor the data pipelines. Strong presentation and communication skills is a must.


• Using Apache AirFlow to build, schedule and monitor AWS based data pipelines feeding Datawarehouse Analytics (Power BI) and Data Science use cases.


• Working with Apache tools like NiFi, Kafka and RabbitMQ to streamline data ingestion and flow between different systems - and to enhance, sort, modify, combine, split, and verify data sets.


• Using a mastery of Python and SQL to extract, ingest, and transform data


• Interacting with and ingesting data from both internal and external APIs


• Developing Pandas libraries to shepherd data


• Refining data against requirements using Python, Databricks, etc


• Using Python to conduct data analysis and data modeling for both Analytical and Data Science use cases.


• Conducting data modeling to drive new insights and visualize historical and predictive data using a variety of analytical and data science approaches.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Local to Chicago - Willing to work ONSITE


• Minimum 7-10 years of professional experience


• Minimum 5 years experience withing in a CLoud Data Engineer role


• Expertise with Python and SQL for data refinement


• Experience with R Studio and Pandas


• Expertise with Apache tools - NiFi, AirFlow, Kafka


• Experience with RabbitMQ or similar MQ / Message brokers


• Experience working with AWS ecosystems preferred
