JOB DESCRIPTION

Overview:

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Application Modernization Engineer to lead and execute the migration of legacy applications from AIX to Linux and transition middleware from WebSphere Application Server (WAS) to JBoss Web Server (JWS). This role is critical to our infrastructure modernization strategy and will directly impact performance, scalability, and maintainability of our commercial banking platform.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead the technical execution of migrating applications from AIX to Linux environments.

Plan and implement the transition from WebSphere Application Server to JBoss Web Server.

Analyze existing application configurations, dependencies, and performance characteristics.

Translate and refactor configuration files, scripts, and deployment artifacts.

Collaborate with development, infrastructure, and security teams to ensure seamless migration.

Conduct performance tuning, regression testing, and validation post-migration.

Document migration procedures, runbooks, and knowledge transfer materials.

Ensure compliance with security, audit, and operational standards.

Qualifications:

5+ years of experience in system administration and application server management.

Proven experience in platform migration projects, especially AIX to Linux and WAS to JWS.

Strong understanding of enterprise middleware and Java-based applications.

Excellent troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills.

Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
