Manager Test Automation

Position Summary

The Test Automation Manager is responsible for guiding multiple technical team members, aligning testing practices with the organization s broader strategy and objectives. This role oversees automation operations end-to-end: from planning and execution to governance and reporting. They lead initiatives across multiple programs, ensuring consistency, innovation, and measurable improvements in test automation.

In this capacity, the Manager sets clear expectations, drives a culture of quality and accountability, and ensures resources, timelines, and risks are effectively managed. They collaborate with peers and stakeholders to deliver reliable, high-quality software solutions. A balance of technical insight, strategic planning, and people leadership is required. The role also emphasizes coaching, mentoring, and cross-functional collaboration to strengthen automation maturity across the enterprise.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and communicate the long-term roadmap for automation across products and platforms.
  • Align automation initiatives with release schedules, business priorities, and evolving technologies.
  • Ensure automation frameworks and pipelines remain scalable and reliable, while delegating technical ownership to leads.
  • Partner with Engineering and DevOps teams to strengthen CI/CD pipelines and environmental stability.
  • Analyze ROI of automation investments and influence prioritization across initiatives.
  • Encourage continuous learning and adoption of modern tools and approaches.
  • Lead and manage employees and contractors, ensuring alignment with business outcomes and team objectives.
  • Collaborate with product, business, and technology leaders to prioritize and deliver initiatives.
  • Drive strategies for staffing, project delivery, and operational excellence.
  • Oversee hiring, onboarding, performance management, and career development.
  • Manage vendor engagements and optimize resource utilization.
  • Define KPIs, monitor outcomes, and leverage data for process improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies, architecture standards, and security frameworks.
  • Act as escalation point for technical or project issues, enabling timely resolution.
  • Manage departmental budgets and cost allocation to support efficiency and growth.

Required Qualifications

  • 8+ years of progressive experience in technology or business domains, with broad exposure to automation and quality practices.
  • 3+ years in a leadership or management capacity.
  • Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field (equivalent experience considered).
  • Strong knowledge of automation frameworks, CI/CD integrations, and test tools (e.g., Selenium, Jenkins, JMeter).
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms, containerization, and version control.
  • Skilled at team building, communication, prioritization, and decision-making.
  • Focus on scaling automation strategies rather than direct hands-on scripting.
  • Experience fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and innovation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master s degree in STEM or Business (preferred, not required).
  • Prior experience in industries such as financial services or lending.
  • Certifications such as:
    • ISTQB Advanced Level Test Automation Engineer (CTAL-TAE)
    • Certified Selenium Tester (CST)
    • Certified Jenkins Engineer (CJE)
    • Python Automation Certifications (PCEP, PCAP)
    • Performance Testing Certification (e.g., JMeter)
