We are seeking an experienced, US-based Jira Service Management (JSM) Cloud Migration Consultant to lead the strategic assessment and execution of our transition from Jira Server/Data Center to Client. This critical, project-based role requires deep expertise in Jira Service Management, a strong understanding of cloud migration best practices, and the ability to navigate complex security and data compliance requirements, specifically concerning Personally Identifiable Information (PII) and legacy code integration.
The ideal candidate will be adept at both strategic planning and hands-on technical collaboration to ensure a seamless migration targeted for early 2026.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Assessment & Planning Conduct a comprehensive audit and assessment of all current Jira On-Premises workflows, configurations, customisations, and integrations related to service management and development processes.
Develop a detailed, phased migration strategy and cutover plan for moving all Jira Service Management data, projects, and users to the Atlassian Cloud platform.
Identify and document potential risks, technical dependencies, and security/compliance complexities, particularly regarding PII handling and legacy code integration.
Define the target state architecture, ensuring alignment with modern cloud best practices and optimal performance within the Atlassian Cloud environment.
2. Security, Data, and Compliance Develop and implement solutions to address security and access complexities inherent in migrating sensitive customer data (PII).
Ensure the migration strategy is compliant with all relevant data privacy regulations and internal security policies.
Advise on and configure enhanced security features within Jira Service Management Cloud (e.g., access controls, encryption, data residency) post-migration.
3. Collaboration and Execution Serve as the primary Atlassian Cloud subject matter expert for the migration project.
Work onsite with the local team in the US to facilitate direct communication and effective problem-solving.
Collaborate closely with Support, QA, and Development teams to understand their needs, map their existing processes to new Cloud workflows, and facilitate user acceptance testing (UAT).
Provide technical guidance and knowledge transfer to internal administrators and end-users before and after the migration.
Required Qualifications
7%2B years of hands-on experience as a Jira Administrator, Consultant, or Solutions Architect, with a strong focus on Jira Service Management (JSM).
Proven, direct experience successfully leading and executing migrations from Jira Server/Data Center
Expert-level knowledge of Cloud security best practices, access management, and governance.
Demonstrable experience working with systems containing Personally Identifiable Information (PII) and deep understanding of the associated security and compliance challenges.
Strong technical proficiency in Jira workflows, schemes, customisations, automation, and integration with third-party tools.
Exceptional communication, documentation, and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Active Atlassian Certification(s) (e.g., ACP-100 Jira Administrator, ACP-400 Jira Service Management Administrator, or Cloud Migration certifications).
Familiarity with managing and migrating Confluence (currently on Cloud) and integrating it effectively with the new JSM Cloud environment.
Experience modernizing workflows from legacy code/systems as part of a migration project.
