Job Title: Rotating Equipment Engineer
Location: Remote, Canada
Position Overview:
Client is seeking a qualified and experienced Rotating Equipment Engineer with a valid P.Eng (Professional Engineer) certification in Canada to join our mechanical engineering team. This role involves the design, specification, and technical oversight of rotating equipment packages for major energy, oil & gas, and chemical projects.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and specify rotating equipment such as pumps, compressors, turbines, blowers, fans, and gearboxes.
  • Develop datasheets, technical specifications, and requisitions for rotating equipment.
  • Review vendor documentation including general arrangement drawings, performance curves, and mechanical design reports.
  • Perform technical bid evaluations and support procurement processes.
  • Ensure designs meet applicable codes and standards (API 610/617/618/672, ASME, CSA, ISO).
  • Support interdisciplinary coordination with process, piping, instrumentation, and electrical teams.
  • Participate in HAZOP, model reviews, and design coordination meetings.
  • Conduct Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), site inspections, and commissioning support.
  • Provide lifecycle support and recommendations for maintainability and reliability improvements.
  • Ensure full compliance with project specifications, safety guidelines, and Canadian regulatory requirements.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng) in Canada (PEO, APEGA, EGBC, etc.).
  • 8 15 years of experience in rotating equipment engineering within oil & gas, petrochemical, or industrial sectors.
  • Strong working knowledge of rotating equipment standards such as API, ANSI, and ISO.
  • Proven ability to review and interpret vendor designs and specifications.
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and vendor coordination skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience on both FEED and EPC phases of major projects.
  • Familiarity with packaged rotating equipment (e.g., API compressor skids, Pumps, mechanical drive systems).
  • Exposure to decarbonization, hydrogen, or energy transition equipment solutions.
  • Site experience in troubleshooting and performance testing of rotating machinery.
  • Knowledge of condition monitoring and vibration analysis principles.
