National Grid is hiring a Senior Engineer, Mechanical Engineering in Oceanside, NY.

Job Purpose
Perform technical investigations and administrative tasks related to combustion turbine operation and maintenance for both mechanical and electrical issues.
Analyze, identify, and take appropriate actions to correct unsatisfactory system conditions, and to improve performance.

Key Accountabilities
Investigate electrical and mechanical system performance problems with Engineering and develop system modifications as needed.
Interface with other company departments as well as external contractors and vendors in the performance of operations and maintenance
Conduct equipment tests, analyze the results, and prepare recommendations for corrective actions.
Oversee company or contractor work force in the performance of modifications, maintenance, and repairs.
Monitor all operating and environmental conditions through regular inspections and review of logs.
Be "on call" on a regular scheduled basis during weekends and off hours to respond to contingencies.

Qualifications
General knowledge in areas of thermodynamics, heat transfer, fluid dynamics, electricity, control systems, and related disciplines is preferred.
Bachelor's degree in engineering or related science is required with a minimum of 5-8 years related experience and knowledge, (Combustion turbines and or power plant systems, components, equipment, operations, and maintenance experience preferred).
Knowledge of applicable codes and standards.
Experience with reviewing work performed by Designers.
Experience with inspecting installation work.
Experience with working with other engineering disciplines.
Experience with preparing of specifications, calculations, studies, budget estimates and schedules.
Proficient in the use of computer programs such as Word, Excel, Access and Outlook.
Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal and computer skills.
A valid New York State driver's license.

$124,000 - $146,000 a year
