Location: Monterey, California (Hybrid - 3 days onsite, 2 days remote)


Security Clearance: Interim Secret required to start; must be able to obtain Secret Clearance. Active Secret HIGHLY PREFERRED.


Certifications: PMP Certification is required as per Navy Customer specifications.



Softworld is currently recruiting for a Project Manager to work hybrid in Monterey, CA. The ideal candidate for this role is a seasoned project manager with a strong background in IT and a proven ability to lead complex projects, particularly in a military or governmental setting. They should possess excellent communication and leadership skills, be adept at navigating changing requirements, and hold an active Secret security clearance along with a PMP certification.



About the Role:


Join our team as a Project Manager and contribute significantly to the U.S. Navy's meteorological and oceanographic missions. This role is pivotal in managing various critical projects, especially those related to the Fleet Numerical Meteorology and Oceanography Center's (FNMOC) Information Services Department. Here, your work will have a direct impact on ensuring that strategic needs of the Navy's Meteorology and Oceanography (METOC) mission are met.



Role Overview:


As a Project Manager, you will oversee and ensure the successful completion of all tasks within assigned program areas, with annual revenues of up to $25M. You will collaborate directly with government employees and contractors to ensure that projects are completed on time and meet all strategic needs.



Key Responsibilities:


Manage the completion of all tasks in assigned program areas.


Collaborate directly with government employees and contractors to ensure on-time project completion.


Required on-site, face-to-face performance at the customer's site in Monterey, California.


Support the FNMOC Information Services Department in managing and maintaining high-priority IT systems.


Provide focused Project Management support for the FNMOC IT Life Cycle Hardware (LCH) refresh effort, including infrastructure technology refresh and Linux clusters upgrade.


Lead teams on large, complex projects, ensuring performance, cost, scope, schedule, quality, and business metrics are met.


Develop and maintain project documentation such as Systems Engineering Plans, Project Plans, Concepts of Operations, Work Breakdown Structures (WBS), Integrated Master Plans/Schedules, Transition Plans, and Program Management Plans.


Prepare and present technical and executive briefs and presentations.



Required Experience:


Bachelor's degree in Information Sciences or a related field from an accredited college or university.


At least eleven years of intensive and progressive experience demonstrating the required levels of project management and IT proficiency.


IT Project Management expertise.


Exceptional communication and leadership skills.


Ability to guide projects smoothly through changing requirements and challenges.


Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification.
