About the Opportunity

iSphere is on the hunt for a Data Scientist - Strategic Data Intelligence to join a forward-thinking team in Houston. This is a hands-on role where you ll turn complex educational and operational data into meaningful stories and actionable insights that drive smarter decisions. You ll collaborate with senior analysts, engineers, and business leaders to foster a strong, data-driven culture.

What You ll Do

  • Predictive & Trend Modeling: Develop predictive models and trend analyses to support planning and program evaluation.

  • Data Prep & Integration: Prepare data from Microsoft Fabric, SIS, ERP, and external systems for advanced analysis.

  • Visualization & Storytelling: Design Power BI dashboards that showcase key performance indicators and deliver clear data stories.

  • Statistical Analysis: Clean, merge, and transform data using statistical software (Python, R, or Stata).

  • Research Collaboration: Partner with department leads to define research questions and translate them into analytical strategies.

  • Pilot & Evaluation Support: Assist in pilot studies and evaluations of new academic or operational initiatives.

  • Exploratory Data Analysis: Uncover patterns and actionable insights through deep data dives.

  • Documentation: Maintain thorough records of code, logic, and assumptions used in all statistical work.

  • Continuous Learning: Stay on top of new methods, tools, and educational research practices.

What We re Looking For

  • Education: Bachelor s degree in statistics, mathematics, data science, public policy, or a related field (Master s preferred).

  • Experience: Minimum 3 years in applied data analytics, educational research, or statistical analysis; experience in public education, nonprofits, or social policy analytics is a plus.

  • Technical Skills:

    • Proficiency in SQL, Power BI, and at least one statistical programming language (Python, R, or Stata).

    • Strong ability to interpret and visualize complex datasets.

    • Familiarity with public education data and performance indicators.

  • Soft Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong collaboration abilities, and a proven track record of meeting tight deadlines.

  • Certifications: Certifications in data analytics or visualization tools are a plus.
