Job Details

Title: Senior AWS Cloud Engineer
Location: Phoenix, AZ (Primarily remote in-office as needed for meetings)
Type: Long-Term Contract

Join a team modernizing and scaling cloud platforms as a Senior AWS Cloud Engineer. Lead the design, automation, security hardening, and optimization of AWS environments while mentoring engineers and partnering with cross-functional teams to deliver resilient, cost-efficient solutions.


Your role:


  • Design, deploy, and manage scalable, highly available AWS environments.
  • Build and maintain Infrastructure as Code with Terraform (or CloudFormation/Ansible) to automate provisioning and change management.
  • Implement security best practices across IAM, VPC, KMS, WAF, and network controls.
  • Stand up and optimize CI/CD pipelines using AWS CodePipeline, Jenkins, or GitHub Actions.
  • Monitor performance, cost, and security; drive tuning and remediation with actionable dashboards and alerts.
  • Troubleshoot complex issues across cloud infrastructure, networking, and application deployments.
  • Lead pilots and migrations for containers and serverless (EKS/ECS, Lambda) and guide architecture decisions.
  • Partner with engineering, operations, and security to deliver projects aligned to business goals.
  • Mentor engineers and champion modern cloud patterns and automation.


What you ve got:


  • 7+ years in IT with 4+ years focused on AWS engineering and operations.
  • Expert knowledge of core AWS services (EC2, S3, RDS, VPC, Lambda, ECS/EKS, API Gateway, CloudWatch).
  • Hands-on expertise with Terraform; experience with CloudFormation or Ansible.
  • Strong scripting in Python and Bash; Go is a plus.
  • Deep understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, load balancing, and cloud networking.
  • Experience with Docker and Kubernetes/EKS.
  • Track record building CI/CD pipelines and Git-based workflows.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to manage priorities and multiple projects independently.
  • Commitment to clean, maintainable code and infrastructure with a proactive learning mindset.
  • Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; or equivalent experience.
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect Professional or AWS DevOps Engineer Professional (preferred).
