Job Title: Network Engineer L4
Location: Houston, Tx Remote (50% Travel Required)
Position: Contract
Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Network Engineer (L4) to join our team to support large-scale Re-IP migration projects across multiple clinic locations. This role involves remote configuration updates, troubleshooting during live migrations, and on-site travel to support technical activities. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of network protocols, LAN/WAN architecture, routing, switching, and firewall administration.
Key Responsibilities:
- Remotely support Migration Engineers by updating and validating configurations during Re-IP execution.
- Provide real-time troubleshooting for network connectivity and performance issues during Re-IP events.
- Collaborate with on-site teams and project managers to ensure smooth execution of migration plans.
- Review, modify, and implement network configurations, including IP addressing, VLANs, and routing changes.
- Ensure network stability and security throughout migration processes.
- Document configuration changes and migration outcomes for audit and compliance.
- Travel to customer sites (~50%) for hands-on network support, validation, and escalated troubleshooting as needed.
- Execute planned changes after clinic hours to minimize operational disruption.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 8+ years of professional experience as a Network Engineer, including advanced troubleshooting.
- Strong understanding of TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, MPLS, VPNs, VLANs, and subnetting.
- Hands-on experience with routers, switches, and firewalls (Cisco preferred).
- Proven ability to work independently in remote settings with minimal supervision.
- Excellent communication skills for coordinating with remote and onsite teams.
- Willingness to work evenings/nights and travel up to 50%.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Cisco CCNP/CCIE or equivalent certification.
- Experience with healthcare environments or multi-site network migrations.
- Familiarity with Re-IP or large-scale network transformation projects.
- Knowledge of network automation tools and configuration management systems.
