Job Summary We are seeking a highly skilled and customer-focused Senior IT Systems Administrator to support the enterprise data centre infrastructure at Shareworks by Client . Based in downtown Calgary, this role is pivotal in maintaining and enhancing our infrastructure's reliability, performance, and security. You will be responsible for incident response, system maintenance, technical escalations, and infrastructure projects across two data centre locations. This position also involves mentoring junior staff, supporting enterprise-wide initiatives, and contributing to disaster recovery planning. Key Responsibilities Ensure 24/7/365 reliability and uptime of production data centre infrastructure and services. Monitor, troubleshoot, and maintain critical infrastructure components. Design and document enterprise network strategies and infrastructure (logical and physical diagrams). Perform daily LAN/WAN maintenance and monitoring in alignment with established procedures. Provide Tier 3+ escalation support for IT incidents and requests. Lead cross-functional teams on large-scale IT initiatives and infrastructure projects. Collaborate with development and operations teams to optimize system reliability and performance. Identify and implement process improvements that enhance operational efficiency and responsiveness. Execute system upgrades, backups, and recovery procedures in accordance with enterprise standards. Maintain disaster recovery (DR) strategies and assist in DR implementation. Mentor and support junior engineers and administrators. Required Qualifications Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience). Minimum 7+ years of IT infrastructure experience in data centre or SaaS environments within a DevOps or Agile framework. Strong hands-on expertise in: Linux Systems Administration (Red Hat) 7+ years Oracle Database Administration 7+ years VMware Virtualization Technologies (vSphere, NSX, vSAN, vCenter) 10+ years Firewall & VPN configuration (e.g., Juniper SRX) 7+ years Network administration with Juniper, Cisco, and Palo Alto deviceMo Data storage solutions administration 7+ years Information Security Administration & Cyber Defense 5+ years Expertise with: Network protocols including EIGRP, BGP, and OSPF VLANs, VTP, and fiber-channel storage networking Windows Server Administration (20082016) IBM SAN storage, System X, or Lenovo Flex Systems Distributed file systems (NFS, AFS, DFS) Proficiency in infrastructure monitoring tools (e.g., PRTG, Sensu). Experience with backup, replication, and deduplication technologies (Quantum, EMC Data Domain). Familiarity with collaboration tools like Confluence, SharePoint, Microsoft CRM. Experience automating infrastructure and processes using Ansible. Preferred Qualifications Industry certifications (e.g., VMware, Cisco, Red Hat, Palo Alto, Oracle) Experience in high-compliance environments such as finance or healthcare Strong leadership, communication, and client-facing skills Proven track record of implementing new enterprise technologies and infrastructure strategies Certifications (if any) Not required, but certifications such as VMware VCP, Cisco CCNP, RHCE, Palo Alto PCNSE, or Oracle DBA are highly desirable.
